We have had a busy month creating many wonderful landscapes and artworks
across the year levels.
The students have enjoyed completing some more heart themed
artworks to celebrate all things love in their lives, as well as
learning about landscapes and the important features they require.
Foundation created a 'Mario Kart'-Inspired landscape using black crayon and watercolors. They learned about a variety of lines, such as zig-zag, spiral, and curved, to add more detail to their work. They looked incredible!
Year One created a Fairy/Goblin Home artwork, using black markers and watercolors to design a mushroom-shaped home fit for a fairy or goblin. They learned about contrasting colors and how to add detail to their home with windows and doors.
Year Two worked on a Mythical Creature landscape, which was created in two parts. Part one was their colorful background, including a focal point and a foreground containing objects of varying sizes to indicate depth of perspective. Part two involved drawing a mythical creature of their choice using black pastel to contrast with the background. They looked spectacular!
Year Three designed an Ice Castle landscape with several layers, using different materials. The students used chalk pastels to draw their focal point and background, adding 'snow' with white oil pastel. They cut paper trees in varying sizes to show depth and used white paint to add texture. Finally, they added some glitter for that final 'wow' factor.
The Year Four students created a Stained Glass Window landscape in which they drew a detailed nature-focused scene, tracing their lines with PVA glue. After the glue dried, they used chalk and oil pastels to color in their artwork. The final result was truly stunning!
Year Five and Six worked on Magical Portal landscapes, which they completed in two parts. The first part was the foreground, containing the portal looking through to the second part: their ultimate world in the background. While creating this project, they also discovered a number of paper crafting techniques.
We hope you have enjoyed seeing the students' artworks in our frames near the office. If you haven't seen them yet, be sure to check them out! We are loving the color and creativity shown in all of them.
As Term Two will primarily focus on clay and construction, we will send out a Compass post early in Term Two about a plan for new artwork that can be rotated through the frames.
Looking Ahead To Term Two!
We are looking forward to Term Two, where our students will work on the very popular Construction and Modelling unit. This will include making their clay pieces as well as embarking on other construction-based projects. There will also be a special artwork created for Mother's Day, along with activities celebrating Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
A quick reminder about the Ellen José Competition, which is currently in progress. A Compass newsfeed was sent out a few weeks ago regarding students completing these artworks at home.
Please see the poster below for more information or click this link:
We would love to see some pieces coming in and will accept entries up to April 23rd - Term Two, Week One. We will be running two lunchtime sessions next week (Tuesday and Wednesday) to support students who wish to complete their artwork at school.
We hope our amazing BRPS artists have a creative and fun holiday and that everyone enjoys a safe and restful break.
Keep those creative projects going over the holidays!
