Principal's Report

Kaylene Kubeil

A huge thank you to all our families who attended our Open Classrooms on Wednesday this week. We hope you enjoyed this 'informal' visit to your child/ren's classroom/s. We like to provide this time so your child can show you their learning environment, some learning that they have been completing, and have the time to chat with the teachers.

Today, we also celebrated HARMONY DAY. Seeing the splash of orange and clothes representing your family's cultures and backgrounds was fantastic. Throughout the day, students participated in a range of activities in their classrooms that acknowledged and celebrated cultural diversity and inclusion. Thank you to Ms Carter, who led the planning and organisation for this day.  More photos will be posted on the school Facebook page later this evening.

Spotlight on Visual Art

It is wonderful to see that we are starting to see lots of splashes of colour around our school as our Visual Art lessons 'come to life'. I want to congratulate both Ms Dandie and Ms Bedford for bringing out our students' artistic flare'! I look forward to seeing our students taking on more art opportunities and experiences so that more Art can be viewed around the school throughout the year.

Right to Learn

Every student has the fundamental right to learn in an environment conducive to growth and success. At Whittlesea Primary School, we want to create a school where learning and wellbeing are our 'core business'. Unfortunately, when disruptive behaviours are displayed in the classroom, it can negatively impact not only the learning experience of the individual causing the disruption but the entire class. Disruptive behaviours, such as persistent talking, interruptions, disrespect, or even issues in the yard at break time, can create an atmosphere that impacts on focus, wellbeing and learning progress. When students cannot concentrate due to distractions, their ability to interpret new information diminishes, leading to frustration and even disengagement.  Let's continue to work together to ensure that all students are demonstrating our school expectations are shown each and every day.
