2025 is off to a flying start and we have so many fantastic learning opportunities for students this year. One of the things I am passionate about is the opportunity for student voice.

At Leighland, we value student input and want to enable students to have a say. I have recently initiated a Student Representative Council (SRC). This student committee is made up of student representatives from every high school care group from Year 7 to Year 12.

The SRC meets 3 times a term to discuss issues raised by students through the Student Feedback Box. The Student Feedback Box is where student suggestions are lodged. The suggestions raised can vary from ideas about school uniforms to needing more printers or sports equipment for lunchtime use. The SRC go through these suggestions and make formal recommendations to the Principal for consideration.

The SRC may need to consider further research or undertake surveys of student groups in this role. This committee is a vital part of students having a voice and input into the development of Leighland Christian School.
