Principal's News

Dear Familes and Friends,

It has been an exciting week at Trinity as we have celebrated both Shrove Tuesday, with our pancake breakfast, and of course Ash Wednesday this week, to mark the start of our Lenten season. Thank you so much to all the amazing helpers who turned up early on Tuesday morning to cook and serve our pancakes as well as the night before to create the delicious pancake mix ready to be cooked the next day. It is always a team effort that is required as without this parent support we really would not be able to have these great activities. I do know that for some parents it is impossible to volunteer on a week day due to work comittments and that many of those parents will be ready to lend a hand for our Fete on Saturday 15th March. Mr Ru is still keen for more people to put their names down to volunteer, as this really helps with our planning.

School Closure Day - Friday 7th March

A reminder that there will be no school for students tomorrow as our teachers will be working with MACS staff in the area of student wellbeing. Last year Trinity was chosen to participate in this pilot program and as part of this initiative all staff will be given training in 'Team Teach. 'Team Teach provides an accredited training framework focused on behaviour support approaches, with an emphasis on building relationships, de-escalation and risk and restraint reduction. The aim is to support school staff with a wide range of positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies, a toolkit of physical interventions, post-incident restorative approaches and support. '

School Expectations and Student Behaviour

Trinity Primary School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) School which has, as a central focus, the wellbeing and safety of all its members.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is an evidence-based framework that brings together the whole-school community to contribute to developing a positive, safe and supportive learning culture. The framework assists schools to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children and young people.

In a PBL school the focus is on teaching children that when we develop these positive behaviours we can all feel safe, respected and able to learn in a more predictable environment. The PBL approach works alongside our school's established set of expectations which are referred to regularly in class, especially at the beginning of the year and each new term. These expectations are displayed in each class and in all other areas around the school.  Of course there are times when things don't always go to plan and some of the choices we make may not be the ones we promote and so we encourage children to be able to reflect on these and work through them with the support of their teachers. For any serious matters we may also involve parents in these conversations so that things can be followed up at home.

First Aid in Schools

This term, not only will all our staff complete their First Aid training in CPR and emergency management but also our children will complete their First Aid in Schools course.

Launched in 2012, the St John First Aid in Schools Program is designed to educate children on how to assist in emergencies, whether at home, at school or on the sports field - all at no cost to parents.
