NAPLAN 2025

Our Year 3 & Year 5 students began their NAPLAN tests this week. The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN), is an annual assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 which assesses key components of the Australian Curriculum. Students completed the writing test yesterday and reading test today. Next week, they will complete the Conventions of Language test on Monday and the Numeracy test on Tuesday. 

Parent/Teacher Communication

Following feedback from the "Tell Them From Me Survey' in 2023, we will continue with the schedule of communication which was trialled in 2024.

Feedback from having parent/teacher interviews earlier in the year last year was very positive. In Term 3, teachers will also make a call to parents as another opportunity to discuss your child's progress. 

As always, parents are able to book a time to meet or call teachers any time throughout the year by emailing or phoning the school office to make an appointment. 

School Photos

Our school photos will be taken by The School Photographer on Thursday, April 3rd, 2025. All students must wear their full Summer school uniform and have their hair neatly done on the day. To ensure ease of ordering and payment in 2025, we have opted for online ordering and payment for school photos. Other schools have already used this convenient method, and it has been very successful in eliminating lost envelopes and confusion over orders.

Instead of filling out an envelope and sending payment, you can complete your order and make payment by using the QR code or visiting the School Photographer website.

The school code for St Martha’s Catholic Primary School is X1092EL54M. Your child will also bring home a paper copy of the code and information.

All orders must be lodged online before Wednesday, April 2nd.

PBL

As part of PBL (Positive Behaviours for Learning), we have a fortnightly focus. Over the course of the fortnight, the teachers will go over the expectations and the matrix of expected behaviours for that focus area. Teachers may also take the students out to the area to practice 'in-situ' or complete a lesson in class.

Exciting Sydney FC Opportunity for SCS Students!

Sydney Catholic Schools, in partnership with Sydney FC, is offering students and their families an incredible opportunity to experience top-level football at Allianz Stadium on April 12, 2025.

This A-League double-header features:

• A-League Women’s: Sydney FC vs. Perth Glory – Kick-off at 2:15PM
• A-League Men’s: Sydney FC vs. Auckland FC – Kick-off at 5:00PM

Additionally, up to 500 students can participate in a Pre-Match Stadium Lap, where they can walk the field before the game. Participants will receive one complimentary ticket and are asked to wear their school sports uniform (but you can bring Sydney FC gear to change into after the walk). Families can register here to express their interest in this pre-match event.

Lost Property

We have numerous items of clothing collected everyday, they are placed in our lost property basket outside the school hall. All labelled items are returned to the child's classroom.  Items which  which are unlabelled will go to the clothing pool.  

Please ensure you re-label any clothing your child is able to remove at school as markings can fade over time.

Please ensure ALL of your children's items are labelled including drink bottles, lunch boxes and containers.
