Student Voice in Action

Harmony Day

The SRC students have been busy working behind the scenes gathering votes from their peers about which stalls they are excited to see and host on our Harmony Day celebrations this year.

We have been in touch with the Klibur Domin Foundation and the students will be working towards raising money to repair a building that has been affected by tree damage late last year. The Klibur Domin Foundation was founded 25 years ago, and St Joseph's has proudly worked alongside Father Burns and his team to support the people in Timor-Leste. Over the last eight years, we have been able to raise money to assist with medical, educational and construction efforts.

We look forward to welcoming the team from the Klibur Domin foundation to see the fundraising efforts in action on Friday April 4th.

Student Feedback

Our new AstroTurf

The SRC has also gathered some feedback from their classmates about what they have enjoyed most about the playground updates that happened over the holidays.

"The new grass is nice and soft compared to the old stuff"

"It's a lot safer to play on now that it isn't as sandy and there are no more rips"

"We love the hopscotch"

"Everyone LOVES the cricket and soccer pitch"

"It's so much more colourful and bright"

"The new nets along the fence are great, it stops the ball going over"

"Sitting around the palm tree is lovely"

We are so thankful to the P&F, the Parent Reps and our school community for their shared fundraising efforts. The money raised has gone a long way in assisting us to upgrade our play spaces. They are being thoroughly enjoyed by the students each and every day.

Our New Specialist Teachers

The SRC had some insightful feedback to share about our new specialist teachers.

Music With Miss Dunk

"Miss Dunk is fun, kind and easy to learn from. She is good at teaching us new songs and the 10 step sasa"

"Miss Dunk is so great at playing instruments. We also get to play instruments in music for the first time in a long time. We have been playing the ukulele and the xylophone."

"Miss Dunk has a really beautiful singing voice. She will help us so much for the production"

PE with Mr Sandler

"Mr Sandler teaches us lots of new warm up games that we have never been shown before."

"Mr Sandler is fair and makes sure people follows the rules of the game. He always asks us for our honest opinion about his lesson."

"Mr Sandler is really kind and explains things clearly. He even lets the students choose which warm up game to play."

Art with Mrs Krause

"I love that Mrs Krause has let us do lots of painting already."

"Mrs Krause is really creative and fun in class, she has the best ideas."

"We love that Mrs Krause has put our art work up in the school, we love seeing the different things the students have done."

The SRC could not let us finish our session without acknowledging our long-standing Italian teacher, Signora Butera. Franca has been a fantastic support for our new specialist team and in the students words "We love Signora!"
