📖✏️Literacy
Mentor Text: No One Likes a Fart by Zoe Foster Blake
This week we will be exploring the text 'No One Likes a Fart', this is a funny and engaging story that students will enjoy. It also explores a message of belonging, how to make and maintain friendships and how our words can impact others which links to our CBL Big Idea. We will use this text to explore nouns, adjectives, verbs and definitions of unknown words. Students will also explore the illustrations in the text and how these support the story.
What can you do at home?
-When reading stories together notice any interesting words and discuss its meaning, ask is it an adjective, noun or verb?
-Chat and notice any interesting nouns and adjectives around you
-Read your take home book and record how you went with your reading
➕Maths
We will be continuing to explore patterns this week. We will revisit repeating patterns and then move into skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s. Students will also touch on growing patterns, making these with manipulatives and identify how this relates to skip counting.
What can you do at home?
-Make patterns with things around your home like match box cars, buttons, coloured counters, ooshie etc.
-Orally skip count by 2s, 5s and 10s
🌏 CBL - Connections
This week in CBL we are going to explore how our words and actions can impact others. We will be working through some common friendship fire situations and figure out how we would flip the situation to make it a more positive experience for all in the friendship.
What can you do at home?
-Discuss how you would flip situations to make them more positive. How do your actions affect others? What tools do you have to flip tricky friendship situations?
Wellbeing
This week in friendology students will be exploring how to manage friendship fires. Students will be coming home with their own 'friend-o-cycle' to share with their families about their friendology learning. Grade 1 and 2s will be proud to share with you their learning and how they 'talk it out until the fire is out'.
