Story Seekers Book Project Club: Uniting Through Stories

The Story Seekers Book Project Club is off to an incredible start! As we enter our fourth week working together, I am thrilled to share the exciting progress we’ve made. Our group has grown to 32 passionate students, all dedicated to uncovering and sharing the diverse and inspiring stories of our school community.

This week marked a major milestone for the club as we completed our first interview with Ms. Karen Utber, not only a valued member of our teaching staff but also the Bayuna Neighbourhood and Wellbeing and Inclusion Principal. The enthusiasm, professionalism, and dedication shown by the students during the interview was truly impressive, and it’s clear that this project is sparking something special.

Our first story is almost ready, and we couldn’t be more excited to see the beginnings of what will become a beautiful collection of narratives that reflect the heart and soul of our school. Looking ahead, our next interviews will be with Mr. Stephen Bolton, Ms. Barbara O’Brien, our Executive Principal and our First Nations student, Shemar Briggs Baksh.

We are excited to continue showcasing the rich diversity within our school community and deepen the connections between everyone at Greater Shepparton Secondary College. The Story Seekers will continue to conduct interviews, dive deeper into the stories of our fellow students, teachers, and staff, and bring these stories to life through writing and design.

We are currently looking for more inspiring individuals to share their stories with us, and we encourage everyone in the school community to suggest anyone they think would be a good fit for this project. This project is not just about creating books – it’s about building stronger relationships, celebrating our differences, and creating a legacy that future students will be able to look back on with pride.

I’m incredibly proud of the work everyone has put in so far, and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together in the coming weeks.

Thank you to all of our Story Seekers for your energy, dedication, and creativity – you are truly bringing this project to life. Let’s continue to share our stories, celebrate our school community, and make something truly meaningful for all to enjoy!
