Podcasting

Year level: 4

This term, the Podcasting Innovation students in Year 4 will explore

the purpose and make-up of Podcasts. Through this exploration, students will immerse themselves in essential skills such as writing, speaking, listening, presenting, and performing. Learners will delve into topics of personal interest, exploring a variety of existing podcasts to analyse their structures and key features prior to planning and recording their own podcasts. Through this ‘hands on’ approach, students will develop proficiency in effective audio practices, from planning interview setups to troubleshooting audio issues like distortion during recording. They will script, edit, and record their podcasts, practicing their storytelling and communication skills throughout the process. Collaboration will be encouraged, with opportunities for students to provide and receive constructive feedback from their peers, allowing them to refine their work as needed. Finally, students will share a completed podcast with the GWPS community, showcasing their learning journey and newfound skills. Podcasting will foster creativity and critical thinking, as well as empower students to become confident communicators.
