Animation

Year level: 3

In Term 1 Animation, students will be introduced to the 12 Principles of Animation. They will create short animations as they learn each of these principles and why they are used. For example, the squash and stretch technique is applied to give a sense of weight or flexibility to objects such as a bouncing ball. These skills will be applied in several ways such as using free-hand drawing to create flipbooks. They will digitally create pieces through FlipaClip, Flip Studio and Scratch which will allow them to manipulate the speed of their work. They will also explore animation through photography and real-life objects by using Stop Motion to make fixed objects used. Further, learners will explore the important art of storytelling in animation.
