Salvado Day
Our College came together on Friday 28 February to celebrate Salvado Day, honouring the legacy of our College Patron - Bishop Rosendo Salvado. The day began with beautiful Masses for the Primary and Secondary students, led by Fr. Mark, and a Liturgy for our Pre-Primary and Kindy students led by our Early Years staff.
We all had the opportunity on this day to reflected on Bishop Rosendo Salvado’s dedication to faith, education, and service. We are grateful to Fr Mark and all the students and teachers who participated, making the celebrations very special.
Thank you also to our wonderful Year 3 students for their beautiful Salvado portraits. Following the Mass, everyone enjoyed a refreshing treat of icy poles, a simple yet joyful way to mark the occasion. Salvado Day reminds us of our shared mission to live with patience, perseverance, prudence, and prayer, to become a people of peace, justice and compassion just like Bishop Rosendo Salvado.
Shrove Tuesday
On Tuesday 4 February our whole College celebrated Shrove Tuesday, a significant day marking the beginning of Lent and a time to prepare our hearts to turn back to God. In keeping with tradition, students enjoyed pancakes while reflecting on the season of renewal and repentance. A sincere thank you to our Year 6 and Year 7 students who assisted in handing out all of the pancakes to the whole College community. Thank you also to everyone who brought in a gold coin donations on this day. Together we raised over $300 that will go towards Caritas - Project Compassion.
Ash Wednesday
Our College marked the first day of Lent with Ash Wednesday Masses and Liturgies on Wednesday 5 March. The students' foreheads were marked with a cross made from the ashes of the Palm Sunday branches from Holy Week last year. These liturgical celebrations remind us that God always calls us to turn back to Him (repent) - and to renew our relationship with God and faith in the Gospel. We can do this by making a special effort over the 40 days of Lent to focus on prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Thank you to Fr. Mark for celebrating the Masses with us, and to the students and teachers who helped during these services.
Project Compassion
Our Project Compassion Lenten fundraising (almsgiving) has begun for another year!
This year, Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion theme is ‘Unite Against Poverty. Project Compassion reminds us that As individuals we can help others, but when we come together, our good becomes great and our combined kindness and generosity grows. And when we unite with each other – and with people living in poverty – we can create BIG, lasting change.
The Project Compassion boxes have been sent home now, to the eldest in every year, ready to receive any cash donations you may be able to give over the next 40 days of Lent. Donation boxes will be collected at the beginning of Term 2.
Alternatively, students, parents and carers can donate online using the following link - https://fundraise.projectcompassion.org.au/o/salvado-catholic-college - donations for Crazy Hair Day and The BIG Water Walk can be made here also.

St Patrick's Day
St. Patrick, is the patron saint of Ireland. He was a 5th-century missionary who spread Christianity across Ireland. He used the three leaf shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Through preaching, baptisms, and church foundations, he converted many Irish people, helping establish Christianity as a dominant faith in Ireland.
Pope Francis' Monthly Prayer Intention
In March, we pray for families in crisis.
Let us pray that broken families might discover the cure for their wounds through forgiveness, rediscovering each other's gifts, even in their differences.
