YEAR 2

FROM THE CLASSROOM

Year 2 students have had another positive and productive week of learning, continuing to build their knowledge and skills across all curriculum areas.

In Writing, students began exploring a new procedural text, 'How to Make a Disgusting Sandwich'. They have been developing their understanding of the purpose and structure of procedural texts, with a particular focus on sequencing instructions in a clear and logical order. Students have enjoyed contributing their ideas and applying their growing knowledge of procedural writing.

In Mathematics, students have been investigating the relationship between addition and subtraction. They have explored how these operations are connected and how known addition facts can support them to solve subtraction problems. Students have continued to strengthen their number knowledge by applying a range of strategies.

In Wellbeing, students have been learning to identify trusted people they can approach when they need help or support. They have also discussed how to recognise when others may need assistance and considered appropriate ways to support their peers.

In Inquiry, students have been learning about Aboriginal seasonal calendars. They have explored seasonal names and considered how changes in weather, plants, animals and the environment can indicate different seasons. This learning has supported students to develop their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ knowledge of and connection to Country.
