Year 7 Leader Report

YEAR 7 ORIENTATION DAY

Last Tuesday, we enthusiastically welcomed the latest additions to our school community, the Year 7 students who will be graduating as the ‘Class of 2029’.

Our newest students embarked on a diverse array of captivating activities. They delved into the world of science through hands-on experiments, broke the ice with interactive 'getting to know you' games, enjoyed playing instruments with members of the school concert band, participated in interactive games in our Small-lab, and even tried their hand at recording interviews in our TV studio. It was a joy to witness new friendships developing and all our students thoroughly enjoying the exploration of their new school.

Special commendation goes to our Year 10 Peer Support Leaders, who exemplified outstanding leadership and maturity throughout the day. Their support and guidance were invaluable to our incoming Year 7 students (and teachers), who greatly appreciated their assistance.

We eagerly anticipate the upcoming first day of school for our newest Year 7 students on Wednesday, January 31st!

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the 2023 Year 7 cohort on a wonderful year. It has been a pleasure to work with this dynamic group of young people and watch them settle into life at secondary school. I wish all our Year 7 families a fun and safe summer break, and all the very best in Year 8.

Year 8 Leader Report

The new year 8s for 2024 started their adventure with our Head Start program. The students all participated in a range of activities around our HRRRT principles.

We also had a sports gala day, a talent show and many other hands-on activities that they could use to demonstrate these values.

Well done to all 2024 year 8s in their participation in the program. I wish all students a safe and happy holiday, and that they return fresh and ready to go.

2024 Year 11 Leader Report

YR 11 REPORT 2023-2024

A Warm Welcome to 2024 - A Message from YR11 Level Leader Phyllis DIMAKAKOS

Dear Parents, and Guardians,

I hope you are all in good health and high spirits. I am thrilled to introduce myself as the YR11 Level Leader for the academic year 2024. It is an honour to serve our school community in this role and guide our YR11 cohort towards success and personal growth.

As we embark on this academic journey together, I want to highlight a few key initiatives and areas of focus that will contribute to a fulfilling and successful year.

1. Study Habits:

Developing effective study habits is crucial for academic success. YR11 is a pivotal year, and it is essential to cultivate strong study routines. I encourage each student to find a study method that works best for them, whether it is creating a study schedule, utilizing effective note-taking strategies, or seeking peer collaboration.

2. Attendance:

Regular attendance is fundamental to academic achievement. Regular attendance ensures engagement with the curriculum and valuable learning opportunities. It is necessary to make a commitment to attend all classes. Any challenges should be communicated to teachers and the school support services.

3. SAC – Outcome Completion:

Success in assessments, particularly SACs (School-Assessed Coursework), is vital for achieving academic goals. Stay organized, manage time effectively, and seek help if needed. Your teachers and support staff are here to guide you through the assessment process.

4. Wellbeing:

Mental and emotional well-being is of utmost importance. Balancing academic commitments with self-care is key to a healthy and successful academic year. Do not hesitate to reach out to our school counsellors or support services feeling overwhelmed or not coping.

5. Being Proactive in Subject Requirements:

Taking active and personal responsibility in education is essential in meeting subject requirements. Engagement in class discussions and seeking clarification when needed will support the learning process and environment.

6. YR11 Formal:

Looking ahead, we are excited to announce the YR11 Formal, a memorable event that will provide an opportunity for the YR11 cohort to come together, celebrate achievements, and create lasting memories. Stay tuned for more details as we work towards making this a special occasion for everyone in Term 3 2024.

As your Level Leader, I am here to support and guide you throughout the year. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, or concerns, or if you simply want to chat.

Let us make YR11 2024 a year of growth, achievement, collaboration and memorable experiences.

TOGETHER WE CAN

Wishing you all a fantastic festive season and academic year!

Warm regards,
