Careers

Welcome

Important things to note this week include:

The Careers, Transitions & Pathways Classrooms are my main vehicle to communicate information to students.

Here are the links to the Careers/TaP Classrooms for all new students and those who have for some reason not already joined. Please join NOW.

Your Classroom is where I will share any upcoming events or courses that you may be interested in. Often these events have limited spaces available and require an EOI so it is important that you make sure you are reading notifications. As an example the following events are either currently advertised or will be in the coming week

  • Carving Pathways for Rural Healthcare
  • CSU Visit here at school
  • CSU Explore Day
  • Electrotechnology at TAFE every Friday for Year 10 Comment end

Parents are also able to join as Guardians. If you would like to join the Careers Classroom of your child, please email kcc-careers@ww.catholic.edu.auand state your child's name and year group and that you would like to join the Careers Classroom.

This will be the main platform used for our Careers notices and activities.

Year 10 parents

Catholic School NSW have made several changes to the Work Experience process. As a result of this, there will be no Work Experience approved until Week 6 of Term 1.

In Week 4 of Term 1, you will receive an email outlining the new process. You will also be invited to join a Zoom session, where I will outline the process.

If your child has a Work Experience Placement that they would like to do this Term, to help speed up the process, they could complete the online MyWorkExperience course as soon as possible. It will take them approximately 15 - 30 minutes. They will need to download the Certificate (they will need to print it later). No matter how many placements they do, they only need to do this once. This information was uploaded to their Google Classroom.

I am available for bookings during school hours and also every Wednesday from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm via Zoom.

Why book an appointment?

  • You might not have any idea what you want to try next after school, and that is completely OK and normal. I can help you navigate that next step by chatting to you about a lot of different options.
  • You may know exactly what you want to try next after school, and I can help you achieve that goal. It may be advice around gaining an apprenticeship in your chosen field, or investigating different tertiary courses etc.

Notes

  • If this is your first meeting with me you need to fill out this form. If you have ever filled out the form you do not need to do it again.
  • If the meeting is between 5pm - 7pm it will be a Zoom and you will be sent a link once you have made your booking
  • Parents are welcome to attend meetings, but please indicate this when making the booking. If parents would like to be involved in the meeting but can not come in person, we can arrange to Zoom you while I am meeting with the student.

In Term 2 we will be implementing a new program ‘TaP Tuesdays’

Every student from Year 7 - 12 will engage in a short Careers type activity during Coaching on Tuesdays. Some weeks the whole school will do the same activity, however most weeks it will be specific to each year group.

Until Term 2, Years 9 - 10 will just be encouraged to check their Google Classroom on Tuesdays during Coaching for any events that are coming up that they may be interested in.
