Rhys Does Mazenod Proud

Over the school break Rhys competed in the 5-day 2024 Canoe Slalom Age Nationals and Wildwater Age Nationals in Eildon, Victoria. At the age of 14, Rhys competed in the U16 age group against other entrants from all over the country. Slalom K1 is Rhys's main discipline. This was Rhys's first time competing in Slalom C1 and Wildwater. He did incredibly well with the following results:

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗲 𝗦𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗺 𝗔𝗴𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗨𝟭𝟲: GOLD K1 and SILVER C1.

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗴𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗨𝟭𝟲: SILVER classic (4km race) and BRONZE sprints (500m race).

On the final day, an additional competition was run, with each entrant representing their school or club. Rhys chose to represent Mazenod College and Ascot Kayak Club as his club. Rhys finished the day first in his age category for K1 and 4th for C1.
