WELCOME TO THE SEASON 1 2024
Welcome to Season 1- a big welcome to all the Year 7s and new players. It's great to be back on the courts!
We had a great response to registrations with over 300. Unfortunately, we were only allocated 31 teams out of our 40 team request (and 4 St Brigid’s Girls teams) so some players/late registrations had to miss out and have been placed onto a waiting list.
The season started off this week and will run for 16 weeks + Finals. Due to the Year 7 Camp next week the following U14 teams have forfeited. (KDBA has been notified)

VOLUNTEER THANK YOU
We would like to give a big thank you to all the Team Managers and Coaches that have put up their hands for the first time and for those that are continuing to volunteer their time for Season 1.
The club would not be able to run without the help of our volunteers - please keep in mind that these parents are volunteers so please ensure that they are respected as they all jobs and families to manage as well.

Welcome back to the 2024 MJBC Committee members, and a big welcome to Shane Cranswick who has recently joined the executive committee as Vice President and Ben O’Shea as a general committee member.
Once again, MJBC is the largest Mazenod sporting club and without help we would not be able to run the club with the number of players and teams we have. We are also on the lookout for more committee members for both the executive team and the general committee. If you can spare some time, please let us know.

As we welcome St Brigid’s College to our MJBC, we would love to have a few more committee members from St Brigid’s to come on board. This will help to coordinate our activities as well as more social events throughout the year between the two colleges. If you would like to help, please get in contact with us.
I would like to give a big thank you to Rebecca Pages (Registrar) for all her hard work in managing the teams for Season 1, 2024. It’s a huge job with a lot of moving/shuffling needed. Also thanks to the other committee members on their dedication and work to get the season up and running.
Mazza Bulls – In Memory
It is with heavy hearts that we returned this week to the beginning of the MJBC Season for 2024, and whilst acknowledging all the excitement for many new players and families, it was also one of reflection as we acknowledged the loss of a well-respected and long-standing family member within the MJBC community. The U18's Mazza Bulls team dedicated their game win and wore black arm bands in both memory and thanks of a MJBC friend gone too soon.
The MJBC committee extend their deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences on behalf of all club members to the Coney family.

MJBC Seasonal Fee Feedback Form 2024
The committee are looking for your feedback regarding a possible a new fee restructure. A complete seasonal fee that includes weekly entrance fees vs the current fee registration with separate weekly entrance fees.

Managers/Coaches Induction
Last Saturday we held the annual Managers/Coaches induction day where managers and coaches received the run down on how the club and the season runs. If you could not make it, you would've received an email with notes and an opportunity to arrange a time to collect your team bag. If you have not collected your team bag, please let us know. Any teams who still have their bags from last year, please let us know as we still have some outstanding bags.
Ball Sizes
It has come to our attention that the U14’s will be using size 6 balls. Some bags that were taken on Saturday have size 7s so we will arrange to swap the balls over the next week. Please feel free to number the balls if you wish to make it easier for you to manage.
Uniforms
As mentioned on Saturday the custom uniforms have been delayed by 2/3 weeks. We are expecting these to arrive the week of 26th Feb and will arrange to get them to you asap. In the meantime, a loan uniform has been supplied, but if you have any issues, please let us know and we will sort it for you. Mazenod Blue Sports shorts can be used in the meantime (all players must wear the same though) but please tape up the pockets for safety reasons.
Mouth Guards
Mouth guards are optional, but we do highly recommend that they are used during the games and also training.
Communications
Please note that if you have any issues please communicate the issue with MJBC and please do not go directly to KDBA (Kalamunda District Basketball Association). You should only communicate with Tyson Lumbca from KDBA tyson.lumbaca@sunsbasketball.com.au if you have to forfeit a game (cc’ registrar1.mjbc@gmail.com).
