Careers
What’s Happening in Careers?
It has been great to see all of the students back and excited about the year ahead. We have had some great discussions with students about their goals and are looking forward to working with the boys this year.
Year 10
We have launched MyPath with the Year 10 group and they have logged in to the Careers Department resources. They will begin by profiling their skills, interests and abilities and then begin to explore career options before they start the course selection process in Term 2. Parents are also able to access the Careers Department resources and this is a great way to open up this conversation with your son and explore the possibilities with him.
Year 11 and 12
The Year 11 and 12 groups will have Careers sessions over the next few weeks.
The Careers Department
Students in Year 10, 11 and 12 have access to The Careers Department. There is a huge wealth of information on this site, where students can explore industries in depth to find out more about the careers and industries they are interested in. It also has a resume builder, digital portfolio, virtual work experience, scholarship finder, job finder and micro credentialling opportunities. So much to explore!
As parents, you also have access to these resources. Your account will be linked to your son’s account, allowing you to explore together.
There are two ways to connect to your son’s account.
1. Students can invite their parents from their 'Profile' > 'Your account' > scroll to the bottom of this page and add their parents email address.
2. Go to the login page and follow the prompts to set up an account. Once inside, you will be directed to explore the site and link to your child's account. Your child should already have an active student account, so you will not need to pay for the platform. If he hasn’t registered, do this first. You will need to enter the correct email address according to your son’s account and your son will need to accept the connection.
Portals for WPL, VET and Careers
Parents and students can access these portals via SEQTA. It is updated regularly with news and opportunities and is a great resource. This should be a first port of call for information in this area.
Careers Newsletter
There is plenty of news so please have a good read and enjoy!
