What a great start to the year we have had! The students have been coming into Art so enthusiastic and happy to be back to specialist sessions! It’s only very early in the term but it is clear to see the number of very creative students we have here at Springvale Rise. Everyone has been trying to do their best work and coming in with a positive attitude and a smile on their face 😊. I think we are going to have a brilliant 2024 in Visual Arts!
What’s been happening in Visual Art?
This term we are working on the areas of Drawing and Collage. For the last two weeks, we have been revising our ‘School Values’ (Collaboration, Excellence, Resilience and Respect) and how we follow these in the Art room. Each learning centre has made posters that show our agreed behaviours and they look amazing! These will be on display in the Art room very soon.
Right now we are all focused on that magical, mythical creature, the Dragon! As 2024 is ‘the Year of the Dragon’ the students are learning all about its features, zodiac personality and how to draw, collage and construct different dragons. The MLC and SLC are also working on a big, collaborative, paper-chain Dragon, that will be displayed for the Lunar New Year.
Next, we will all be working on our self-portraits which will become part of a special Memory Book given out to students when they graduate from Primary School.
Stay tuned too for information about our 2024 interactive ‘Harmony Day’ mural. Exciting times ahead!
Happy New Year Everyone!
