Snapshots from Springvale Campus
Welcome back to the 2024 school year! It has been an incredible start, with all students settling in so well to their new learning centres and developing positive relationships with their classmates and teachers.
The new Foundation students have adjusted well to life at school, they are getting to know the staff, students, and the locations around the school. They have been engaging in shared reading of big books, and collaboratively created a big book called “Brown Bear” which they have enjoyed reading daily to develop their concepts about print and other literacy skills. The FLC students will begin full-time from Week 5.
All learning centres are focusing on developing their classroom routines including safety lines, circle time and turn-and-talk partners. Embedding these routines in a consistent manner throughout the school has supported our students and staff with a positive and calm start to the school year. It has also supported the students to build positive connections with peers and experience a sense of belonging at school.
Lunch Clubs have begun on each campus with a variety of clubs on offer for students to join, including prayer club, social club and drawing club. The students love getting involved in lunch clubs because the staff provide a supported environment that provide our students an opportunity to make new friends and develop new skills. A big thank you to the staff who are facilitating Lunch Clubs throughout Term 1.
Breakfast Club is back every morning from 8.30am in the Community Hub and it is providing a great opportunity for students to talk to their friends or make new friends while they eat a healthy breakfast.
Last Friday we held our first Springvale Campus assembly. Congratulations to our 2024 school leaders on doing such an outstanding job! Assemblies are held on Friday afternoons at 3pm (odd weeks). The next assembly is on Friday March 1st – we would love to see you there!
Take care,
Miss Carly Jamar
