Highlights from Heights Campus 

Welcome back to the 2023 school year! It has been an incredible start, with all students settling in so well to their new learning centres and developing positive relationships with their classmates. It has been a real pleasure to walk around and see so many smiling faces; I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to this amazing community for making me feel so welcome! I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone. 

The new Foundation students have adjusted well to life at school, they are getting to know their new teachers, their new classmates and their new surroundings. Our wonderful grade one’s have been excellent role models. Throughout the day they demonstrate routines and classroom expectations such as how to work at their tables or in small groups. 

Across the school all classes are focusing on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and getting to know one another. Students are engaging in games and role playing to practise solving problems, developing social skills and seeking help. SEL will be a large focus for the whole school, particularly in the first few weeks of term to ensure all students build positive connections and experience a sense of belonging at school. 

 Grades 1 - 6 students have enjoyed getting back into their specialist sessions. The Art room was full of colour as the MLC and SLC students collaboratively created a stunning paper chain Chinese Dragon. Once the Dragon is complete it will be displayed for the Lunar New Year! 

Breakfast Club is back every morning from 8.30am in the Community Hub and it’s a great opportunity for students to talk to their friends or make new friends while they eat a healthy breakfast. 

And finally our 2024 student leaders have done a wonderful job presenting their very first Heights Campus assembly. They engaged their audience as they introduced themselves, presented student awards and the Acknowledgment of Country. Heights Campus assemblies are held on Friday afternoons at 3pm (even weeks). The next assembly is on Friday February 23rd – we would love to see you there!
