Garden
Dear Families,
Welcome to the 2024 school year, We are very fortunate to have a fruit and vegetable garden at school and will be continuing with our gardening program. If you haven't done so already, please provide a pair of gardening gloves for your child.
Not only do we grow fruit and vegetables, but we also cook and make other food during gardening sessions. We finished last year with a banana cinnamon smoothie for everyone to celebrate the end of the school year.
This year we were greeted with a bumper crop of tomatoes grade 5/6s planted on November 22 last year. In just over two months, the plants grew to over a meter tall.
We're growing many different varieties: small cherry tomatoes, larger ones, Roma, pink, yellow, stripy etc. Hope you will attend the Picnic on the Green tonight and see what the children have achieved.
In addition to the tomatoes, we have some cucumbers (Lebanese and Crystal Apple varieties), beetroots, carrots, figs and lots of herbs and teas.
Junior SO class was the first to taste our fruit and vegetables this year: Most of the students tasted everything on the offer and came for more:
