Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for the wonderful support for our students at the recent school athletics and jumps/throws carnivals.

The efforts of the students were just brilliant.

Congratulations to Success/Wooyan-Mirda for winning the faction and loop relay shields.

Our appreciation goes out to Ms Foster and Mr Truong along with staff for their work preparing the students and to all of the volunteers on the day, including Bev and her canteen team from the P&C, John our gardener, parent helpers and staff who arrived early to set up.

The Interschool carnival will be held in week 10 on Thursday 21 September.

Students from the John Curtin College Brass Band visited the school recently to play some pieces and to talk about their instruments with our students. Thank you to Mr Kaloczy for organising this event.

All government schools participate in regular reviews. Recently the review team visited our school to look at the progress of our school across a number of areas. Their feedback was very positive.

They met with parents, students and staff and reviewed data on our programs and processes.

Recommendations will be forwarded to the school to be actioned as part of our 2023-2025 Business Plan which is available on our website.

Next week our year 6 group will be heading down to Dwellingup to the Nanga Bush Camp for two nights. They will participate in a number of outdoor activities and sleep in bunk houses.

The year 6 committee of parents are to be congratulated on their efforts, fundraising to cover over half of the cost of the camp for each of the students attending.

Funds raised will also go towards graduation activities in term 4, and a year 6 gift for the school.

Four staff will work with the students and Mrs Maciel, our AIEO, and Eva, our Chaplain, will also attend part of the time to be part of the experience which students over the years have very much enjoyed.

The school would like to welcome back Mrs Johnson who has been on Long Service Leave. Mrs Johnson replaces Ms Donica who resigned due to family commitments.

We wish Ms Donica all the best for the future and thank her for all her efforts with the students and as a member of our staff.

As we head into Term 4, there will be some costs for incursions for families that we would like to let you know about.

A note regarding Swimming lessons will come home on the first Tuesday of term with classes commencing on Monday 23 October for our younger students. The cost for the two weeks is $65.00.

Money is currently being collected for Edu-Dance which will commence in the first week of Term 4 [Wednesday or Thursday] and run for 9 weeks. The cost to parents will be $40.00 for this program that will run from PP-year 6.

Both of these activities are wonderful additions to our outdoor education program, and we encourage families to support them.

Please let us know if you may need assistance in paying for either of these activities.

On the first Tuesday back in Term Four, there will be dental screening for students in PP, year 3 and year 6.
