Science Week Celebration

Last Wednesday 30th August saw the celebration of the highlight of the school social calendar, ‘Science Week’!

300 sausages set sail down the alimentary canal! Thankyou to the wonderful contribution of the VM students who cooked the BBQ.

The BBQ was the follow up activity from the previous scientific Wednesday, strawberry ice cream produced through liquid nitrogen treatment.

2023 Science week!

Thanks to all the students who celebrated science week with the secondary science team!

Science week is a week of exploring and celebrating science and this year’s theme was 'innovation: powering future industries'.

Over 60 secondary science students had the opportunity to hear from leading science communicator Dr Karl in an online Zoom. Our students asked Dr Karl some very hard and thought provoking questions which he was happy to share his knowledge on.

The Science team also explored the world of liquid nitrogen, with our Science lead teacher, Mr McIntyre, taking on the creative scientist role. Students were able to see bananas shatter and make instant ice-cream with liquid nitrogen that was generously donated to the school by a local business for the purposes of exploring science and innovation.

Finally, the VM students helped us finish the week with a sausage sizzle which was enjoyed by our secondary students – a special thanks to all involved.
