Drawing Us Together Community Story Project

Charter Hall sponsored the Drawing Us Together illustration competition to celebrate NAIDOC Week at Southgate Square. Bianca Stawiarski, an Indigenous author, wrote a children’s story book Gami Winda and Dyindi-Dyindi, and our school was given 4 pages of the book to design and illustrate the story.

Phoebe and Mrs Dunn worked with Mrs Thiele in the Holly classes in art lessons. We had 23 students whose art was entered.

The students whose artwork was displayed were:

Ms Martyne’s class - Chase, Layla, Elijah F, Alex, Archie, Sam, Eli C, Ava

Mr Kaesler’s class - Ryan, Kaylee, Max, Holly, Zalia, Emily

Mrs Jolley/ Madame Mawson class - Beau, Rubie, Indie, Augy, Isaac, Charlotte, Eva, Molly, Savannah.

At the Assembly on the 18th August, we were pleased to be able to announce the winners of the competition whose artwork has been used in the book.

The winners were:

Archie Coakley, Max Wade, Augy Collinson and Eva Beens.

They received a framed picture of their artwork, a certificate and a copy of the book.

All the students whose artwork was entered received a copy of the book, and their artwork is featured at the front of the book.

Congratulations to all our artists.
