CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in Writing, we are learning to edit our writing, ready to publish. 

VOCABULARY

Edit: improve your writing. 

Punctuation: full stops, explanation marks or talking marks. 

Capital letters: capital b looks like this B. 

Spelling: how words are spelt. 

Publish: good copy.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child to write a text, this could be a story, information text or explanation text. 

When they are finished, ask them to check back over their writing for the following things: 

-capital letter 

-punctuation 

-spelling (hint: ask students what sounds they can hear in the word)

Once their writing has been edited, they can make a good copy of their text. This could be typed on a computer or written in a coloured sheet of paper. Make sure to include a picture like below for your published piece of writing.
