Resource Centre

What can I say, but WOW! What a term we have had so far, and thank you to all of ourcommunity for their support for many of  the past and upcoming events. We really could not have done any of it without all of you.

Today marks the end of our Book Week celebrations and what a week it has been, starting with students designing wacky and wonderful costumes on Monday.

Then came the highlight of every Book Week at our schools Annual Character Parade. The Primary School Parade was held on the Tennis Courts at 9amour secondary school participants parading through the Resource Centre at Lunchtime. There were so many amazing costumes paraded by students and teachers alike!

The Thursday Lunchtime activity was based on the book “Fred’s Red Hat”.  Find the Red hat scavenger hunt in the library with Ms O’Neill. Whoever finds the most red hats, wins a prize!!

Finally, Friday saw students working on creating their personalised envelopes and puzzles.

New Arrivals

Each month we receive pre-ordered boxes of books which have been selected by staff at Lamont who have personally read and selected books which they feel meet the needs of our school.

The next event  to be held in the Resource Centre is ‘The Great Australian Book Swap’, an initiative of the Indigenous LIteracy Foundation (IFL). The ILF  is a national charity working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities  across Australia in remote areas. They are a community-led charity, responding to requests from these communities for culturally relevant books, including early learning board books, resources, and programs to support Communities to create and publish their stories in languages of their choice.

This Year our Parents & Friends are hosting our “Great Australian Book Swap” in the Resource Centre on September 7.

The Parents & Friends decided to run our swap on the 7 of September which is Indigenous Literacy Day. Indigenous Literacy Day is a chance for us to celebrate and support First Australian authors and publishers.
