Secondary School
Message from the Head of Secondary
Over the last two weeks we have had the privilege of being involved in the process to elect our student leadership team for 2024. This process requires students to submit a written application, undertake an interview, and present a speech to the student body. This year we had twelve students prepared to put themselves forward as future leaders of our school. The calibre of these students is exceptional and they would all make great leaders of our school.
One of the points that I made to the student body prior to our leadership speeches was that if they aspire for leadership they should be taking the opportunities that are afforded them throughout their schooling. A commitment to school involvement plays a large part in who are leaders are.
We will be announcing our leadership team early next week, and no matter who takes on roles, one thing is certain, the 2024 student leadership will be in great hands.
Our candidates and their families should be very proud of the way they have conducted themselves throughout the process. I know we have been.

Year 8
The Year 8 Community Service and Volunteering class ran a food drive over the past 4 weeks.
Each week they had a key item for donation focusing mainly on staple and non perishable foods.
The class called upon the generosity of their fellow classmates in the Year 8 cohort who donated the goods.
Students in the class were responsible for advertising the project, stating the intentions of their work – which were to inform the cohort about the cost of living crisis and how it was affecting people in the local community.
The aim was for students to be able to empathise with others and make a contribution to the needs of people in the local community.
We were very impressed with the number of items we were able to collect. We are very thankful to all those who made a donation.
Year 9
Year 9 Forensic Science students have been investigating the effect of a medium's viscosity on the descent of a projectile.
They also investigated the trajectory of a projectile as part of the 'Ballistics' unit.
Year 10
Year 10 Child Studies
It is always exciting when our senior students get to learn from our Kindergarten students. This is exactly what happened this week with a rich learning activity organised by Julia Reid, one of our Kindergarten teachers, for the Year 10 Child Studies class. This class is currently studying play and the development and well-being of children. They have spent time this term researching about the theory behind the importance of play to children’s development, playing themselves and today they observed and played with the KB students and learnt some valuable pieces of information from Julia Reid, who has experience as an early childhood educator in addition to her teaching experiences. We never grow too old for experiential learning and we are very lucky at Moama Anglican Grammar to be able to have these rich learning experiences. Thank you to Julia and KB for welcoming us into your classroom.
