We will continue to read the text, ‘Feathers For Phoebe’ and discussing character traits and identifying physical features and personality traits of the characters in the story. We will be learning the blends ‘ck’ and ‘th’. Students will be reading sentences such as, ‘The bus was stuck on the mud track.’ ‘My red rocket has a big crack in it.’

Maths

We will be focusing on telling the time at o’clock and discussing events that occur at different times of the day.  We will continue to focus on ‘sharing’ and emphasise sharing counters one at a time so that you end up with equal groups. Children learn important maths concepts through play. Here is a link to a Maths game you could play at home:

Wellbeing

During Wellbeing we will be discussing some strategies for calming ourselves. We will practice meditating, drawing, reading and breathing to help calm us when we feel upset or frustrated. Students will identify other things they can do to calm themselves.

Reminders

We have noticed there are many children who come to school with laces. If they can't tie their laces, it is recommended they have velcro shoes. Here is a video to assist with learning to tie laces.

Science Afternoon

We had a very enjoyable Science afternoon where families were invited to join into their child’s Science activity. Children built a shelter for an animal using a variety of materials. There were some amazing shelters built out of lego, paper, blocks and a variety of other materials. Some children were keen to draw their creation and discuss how strong it was.
