Le Page Primary School visit

On Wednesday 6th October, intrepid science ambassadors Mr Wang and Mr Rigby visited Le Page Primary School to have some great fun with a STEM challenge. Students were asked to design a cyclone-proof house using index cards that could stand up to the force of a fan. There were lots of good ideas generated and our local primary school very much appreciated our two teachers sharing their skills, knowledge and passion.

Year 11 Chemistry

Last week, the Year 11 chemistry students performed their first volumetric analysis and showed some good skills in getting their titrations to the correct colour for the endpoint.

Performing titrations and related calculations are key skills that are developed over year 11 and 12.

Year 11 Biology

Year 11 biology students conducted an investigation into vegetative propagation to observe how new plants are able to grow from just a fragment of a parent plant. Would larger chunks of potato grow better than smaller ones? What about carrots under different light intensities? Students select their own variables and factors to tweak and adjust for the weeks to come.
