Visual Art

By Mrs Boskovska

This week is Book Week! Prep and grade 1 students made a watercolour painting of a Caiman inspired by a book called "Alan's Big Scary Teeth".

Grade 2 and 3 read a book called "Australia from Dawn to dusk". We chose a famous Australian landmark and we painted the Uluru. We learnt that if we mix two primary colours it can make a secondary colour. We used red and yellow to make orange. For finishing touches we used black for the outline.

Grade 6 students made ink painting inspired by Japanese pagoda. We were practising with the technique called 'Ink wash' by creating different tones and shading achieved by adding more water to make it the ink lighter and less water to make the ink darker.

Grade 5 and 6 are making an animal artwork inspired by Pete Cromer. Pete Cromer is an Australian collage artist and illustrator based on Victoria’s Surf Coast. He grew up loving art, knowing that he eventually wanted to have a job that involved making things with colour and shape. He has a degree in graphic design and worked for Hallmark designing greeting cards before he launched his own website with his art, using his unique, simplified view of the world to fuel his creations. Most of his artwork features animals, portraits and fairy tales made from bright colours and simple shapes.
