John XXIII Rowing Club

Dear Families
All Schools Championship Regatta
As the sun sets on another thrilling rowing season, we couldn't be prouder of our John XXIII rowers for their outstanding achievements at the Rowing WA All Schools State Championships. The final regatta of the season was a true testament to the hard work, dedication, and teamwork our rowers have demonstrated throughout the year.
On a day filled with exhilarating races, our rowers excelled by pushing themselves to the limit, qualifying for finals after powering through the heats. Our rowers braved some gusty winds that swept across the course throughout the day, and their ability to adapt and perform under such circumstances is commendable and reflects their grit and determination.
We're thrilled our rowers achieved 12 podium finishes, further solidifying their position as contenders in the rowing arena. Of these, our dedicated athletes proudly earned five silver and seven bronze medals.
A resounding thank you goes out to our incredibly supportive parents, who tirelessly provided sustenance and energy throughout the day. Your contributions fuel our rowers' performance, and we are grateful for your unwavering support. We also extend our gratitude to our exceptional coaches, whose guidance and mentorship have played a pivotal role in our rowers' growth and success. Your commitment to nurturing our athletes' talents has not gone unnoticed.
Special recognition is due to our Head Coaches, Jimmy and Elinor, who exhibited remarkable organisational skills in putting together crews and overseeing logistical aspects. Your dedication ensured the smooth running of the regatta and contributed significantly to our team's achievements.
The results of the Rowing WA All Schools State Championships have been tallied, and we are thrilled to announce our standing in the overall rankings:
- Guildford - 302 points
- Shenton - 218.5 points
- John XXIII College - 176 points
- Iona - 98 points

The John XXIII rowing community can take immense pride in our third-place finish, a testament to the collective efforts of our rowers, coaches, parents, and organisers.
As the 2023 racing season concludes, let us reflect on the achievements, camaraderie, and growth that we've experienced. We look forward to the John XXIII rowing community coming together to celebrate a great season at the House Regatta and Rowing Presentation Night.
