Cool Kids Online: Parnet-led online anxiety treatment for kids

Cool Little Kids Online (AGED 3-6 YRS*)

Cool Little Kids Online is a parenting program that aims to increase the confidence of young children, so that they have fewer anxiety problems as they grow. It is based on the world renowned Cool Little Kids program developed at Macquarie University. The program uses the principles of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and is backed by scientific studies showing its effectiveness in reducing current and future fears and worries for young children.

Cool Kids Online (Ages 7-12)

A world renowned anxiety management program suite, Cool Kids is a cognitive-behavioural skills-based program that teaches children, teenagers and their caregivers how to better manage anxiety. The suite also contains an adaptation for young people on the autistic spectrum.

The Cool Kids online suite of programs target all the types of anxiety. Topics covered in the Cool Kids programs include:

  • learning about feelings and anxiety
  • learning to think realistically
  • fighting fear by facing fear
  • parenting an anxious child
  • learning coping skills such as building confidence, relaxation or problem solving.

The Emotional Health Clinic offers the Cool Kids online Suite through our clinic at Macquarie University as outlined below.

The programs can be run:

Social media minimum age webinar - eSafety News

New information and resources

From 10 December 2025, certain social media platforms won’t be allowed to let Australian children under 16 create or keep an account, giving them more time to develop important skills and maturity.

We have launched new pages on the social media age restrictions hub, designed to support parents and carers, educators, and young people as we prepare for the restrictions to come into effect.

These tailored resources aim to help Australians understand and prepare for the changes that are coming. Informed by extensive consultation, all resources are available for free at eSafety.gov.au

Live webinars

eSafety is running live webinars for educators and youth-serving professionals, and parents and carers, in the lead up to 10 December.

The 30-minute sessions will cover:

·       What the new legislation means for educators, parents and carers, and young people.

·       Insights into how platform design features can impact young people's wellbeing.

·       Strategies and resources to support young people through the transition.

Register for a webinar and share the schedule.

Answers to frequently asked questions

eSafety consulted widely with educators, parents and carers and young people, and has developed up-to-date guidance, advice, and answers to frequently asked questions, including:

·       Will underage users be able to reactivate their old accounts when they turn 16?

·       Won’t the age restrictions stop under-16s from accessing important benefits of being online?

·       How will children’s digital rights be protected under the age restrictions?

Find answers to these questions and more, at the hub
