Year 4 Sleepover

On Thursday the 30th October our Year 4 students went to the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) to begin their first ever camping and sleepover experience. They travelled by bus to Albert Park and arrived at MSAC at 10:00am. Students enjoyed their morning tea and were placed into mixed groups to participate in LAND activities such as Basketball, Soccer, Table Tennis and Fun and Games. After this we walked to Albert Park Lake to enjoy a delicious, nutritious and healthy lunch on the grass in the spring sunshine. Students returned to MSAC and experienced an afternoon of AQUATIC adventures that included two Inflatable Obstacle Challenges, the Wave Pool and Dive Pool. It was wonderful to see our students using their swimming and survival skills to complete these new and exciting experiences. After our session students quickly changed, enjoyed an afternoon snack and returned to Greenvale Primary School to prepare for their first ever sleepover.
On return to school students checked in, set up their sleeping spaces in the BER and prepared for a delicious dinner. Students enjoyed garlic bread, pizza and ice-cream for dessert. After dinner they experienced a GIANT game of musical chairs, a fun balloon popping game and finally a disco. Students then enjoyed the movie ‘Monsters Inc’ at our Sleepover Cinema. They enjoyed viewing the film with popcorn and milo with their friends. At the end of the movie students returned to their sleeping areas for bedtime. They all slept soundly after an exciting, interesting and active first day.
On Friday morning students began to wake up at 7:00am to be ready for breakfast at 8:00am. Students were served breakfast by a team of teachers and admin staff. This consisted of cereal, toast, croissants and juice. After breakfast students participated in a ‘Breakfast Boogie’ with Mrs. Cunado to get energised and ready for the day ahead. Students participated in a variety of activities that were delivered by Supreme Incursions. These were Billy Carts, LEGO Shelter Building, Silent Escape Zone and Hip Hop. Students enjoyed participating actively, in their groups experiencing many new adventures throughout the day. Our barbeque lunch was served in the BER by our teachers and parent helpers. The students enjoyed sausages, hamburgers, chips and healthy fruit snacks. After lunch students enjoyed playing with their friends in the playground. Students were responsible for cleaning and packing up their sleepover before being picked up by their family members from 3:00pm.
The Year 4 team would like to thank all the volunteer parents and teachers who contributed to this successful experience for all our students and their families. We look forward to watching our Year 4 students grow and develop as they experience our future camping programs in Year 5 and 6.
