Todd Woodbridge Cup State Final
Our school’s Todd Woodbridge Cup team, Belle Nichols, Millie Lyle, Daisy Baker, Charli Scott, Angus Snape, Rex Plevey, Frank Plevey and Jake Gurney, competed at the Todd Woodbridge Cup State Finals at Sydney Olympic Park on Monday 10th November.
The team were outstanding in the pool rounds, finishing undefeated to claim the top spot heading into the semifinals. In a series of tight matches, they narrowly missed a place in the grand final, going down 5 sets to 3, with several sets decided by just a single point.
Regrouping for the playoff, the team showed great determination and spirit to defeat Kincoppal Rose Bay/Scots College 5–3, securing an impressive third place in the state.
It was a fun, fast-paced and action-packed day filled with teamwork, effort and fantastic sportsmanship from every player. A special congratulations to Frank Plevey, who received the Sportsmanship Award, reflecting the positive attitude shown by the whole team.
Well done to all players on a brilliant effort and an unforgettable day representing our school!
Diocesan Touch Football Gala Day
On Friday 31st October, St Xavier’s sent three teams from year 5 and 6 to Tamworth to participate in the Diocesan Touch Football Gala Day. All teams played five games in the round-robin matches against schools from all around the diocese. One team narrowly missed out on the semi-finals, with it coming down to a count back on tries scored. A special thank you to the parents who were the team managers on the day, and for everyone who travelled over to support the students.
