Principal's Message

Dear parents and carers,
We recently received the results from the School Satisfaction Surveys. Below are a selection of quotes from students from Years 3 to 6 telling us what they most like about St Xavier’s.
- The staff try and make your little things come to life.
- I can see my friends and we have good resources in the classroom and we are very fortunate.
- The resources provided to extend my learning.
- Being able to play with my friends and to have a chat to them.
- I love that we have lots of space to play.
- The canteen.
- That we get the opportunity to do different sports and interesting topics like science where we do different experiments.
- When I am stuck on a specific topic of learning I love when my teachers give the option to come to the floor.
- We have a gigantic shared space that we can do our independent learning in
- I love the Chess club every Thursday because I really enjoy playing this sport and I love the opportunities we have with school society. I also like the style of learning like breaking out into groups to help people understand the learning better.
- I really like the learning opportunities that you get to experience and the big area that you get in the class room and the playground.
- That my teachers and peers make me feel heard and care about me, they make me feel cared for.
- I like how the teachers great you in the morning and walk you to walk line, pick up, kiss and drop and bus.
- We are given a range of different strategies to use in maths to solve problems. The teachers mostly value our different opinions and help us to learn when it is sometimes difficult.
- The staff and teachers because they make me feel safe at this school by treating me like a senior student. I feel like I am listened to by my teachers and staff that are around me.
- Is that we, as senior students have a voice and are allowed to make some decisions on our own, including making groups.
- The extra work people can do if they exceed the usual level, it is nice to have a challenge instead of learning what I already know.
- I like how all the staff take notes of what the kids have to say so it is not just all the teachers doing it all, the kids get to have their say.
And one of my favourites…
- Going home because I can sleep at home and see my dog.
One improvement mentioned by a number of students was the dimness of the primary toilets. They are uninviting and dark. Today we made plans for the painting of the inside of the toilets to brighten them up and make them more inviting. Unfortunately we cannot install a swimming pool, increase playtime or allow tackle footy!
In the next Newsletter I will share the parent comments, which were really encouraging.
Kind regards,
Jen
