Mindfulness Centre Newsletter

Thursday was World Kindness Day, a day that gives us a special moment to celebrate the everyday acts of care, empathy, and respect that strengthen our school and the wider community. This day reminds us that kindness is powerful, contagious, and essential for building safe, welcoming spaces where every student can thrive, learn, and contribute. Being kind is a gift we can give freely, and it serves as a powerful model for others. Being kind also links to our School’s Values of respect and empathy and is a valuable trait for students to develop throughout their lives.
During Years 3-4 Wellbeing lessons, students have been exploring rights and responsibilities, to themselves, their families, the school, and the world, recognising that kindness is a responsibility as much as a feeling. By choosing inclusive actions, listening with intent, and offering help to others, they are practicing habits that turn rights into realities for all and lay the foundation for a more just and caring community.
We are fortunate in our school to have many families who share their kindness with us by offering time and expertise. As mentioned last week, Laura, one of our Prep parents, has helped design our mural for everyone to enjoy. Not only has Laura and her family generously contributed their time, but members of the wider Eltham North community have also contributed to preparing the wall and sketching the design, and the Lions Club has kindly provided funds for the paint. We look forward to senior school students joining in to paint the mural. This wonderful mural will join our growing body of school artwork, connecting with our local artists’ mosaics, chainsaw carvings, and the Iron gates, each piece a precious artwork to be valued and enjoyed by everyone.
We are very fortunate at our school to have so many amazing artworks around for us to enjoy. Art works that have been completed with students as well as with We also have some wonderful student art work around the school. Working together on art helps to create a sense of community and belonging which in turn helps with overall wellbeing. Next time you are in our grounds take a moment to enjoy our great art.
