Year 2 - Newsletter

Dear Year 2 families,

 

Yes it’s true - it’s halfway through Term 4! School holidays will be here before we know it, and there’s still so much fun to be had at school before we finish.

 

What are we up to in the classroom?

INQUIRY

Our Term 4 Inquiry unit: Stepping into the Digital World, continues to be a huge hit. We have experimented with MineCraft Education (HUGE HIT!) and now are working on a Claymation project (ALSO A HUGE HIT!)

 

LITERACY

In English, we have just commenced a rich text based unit on Persuasive Writing using the text ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’. We are building background knowledge on crayons and colours and have started to use high modality verbs to look at making our writing persuasive. 

 

MATHS

We are working on a unit in Time - telling time on an analogue clock to the half hour and quarter past and to. If you have an analogue clock at home, have your child practise telling the time!

 

Swimming Program

Information about the swimming program is now on Compass. Please take time to read through this carefully.

1st-18th December- Swimming 

Thursday 11th December- Christmas Singalong

Wednesday 17th Big Day Out (Bundoora Indoor Sports Centre)

Friday 19th December- Last day of Term 4

 

Milk Bottle Lids

Please continue to send in washed, used 2 Litre milk bottle lids for an activity later in the term - we will need 25 for each child, so if you could please start collecting and sending them in we would be grateful.

 

Reminders

Continue to have students complete home reading and return their readers each day.

Mathletics tasks are set and available for your child to complete at home if you choose. 

 

Hats - Term 4 is a Sunsmart term

All students require a wide brimmed school hat as per Sunsmart guidelines. Students will be required to stay in the shade if they do not have a hat.
