School Fair: A Breath Away

Saturday 15 November

Our lawns have been mowed, growing piles of books fill the lower building, ingredients for scones have been purchased, and a spark of electricity has filled the air. This special day only happens because parents and volunteers generously share their time and energy to ensure a wonderful day.

Working Bee Gratitude

Sunday 9 November

Thanks to those who were able to join us with helping clean up our yard and prepare for the fair. Although the wet weather prevented a full blowing of the yard, we were able to do some blowing later in the morning, clear some drains, shift some mulch, refresh the garden outside of 5/6A, scrub and clean the drinking fountains as well as ensure the art show was taking shape.

Remembrance Day Marked by School Student Leaders

Tuesday 11 November

It was a privilege to share in this important day with our School Captains this year. We were able to lay a wreath at the Watsonia cenotaph during a community ceremony. Such experiences offer a time to reflect on our world and recommit to actions that shape a more peaceful world.

Of particular note, was the awarding to Sophie E in Year 6 of a special RSL Secondary School Scholarship for her leadership throughout her time at Rosanna Primary School.

Staff noted …

Sophie reflects the Anzac spirit through her kindness, courage, and commitment. As a Junior School Council leader, she shows courage every time she speaks up for her classmates and represents their ideas with confidence and care. She always gives her best effort, even when things are challenging, and takes pride in her learning.

Sophie is a loyal and reliable friend who looks out for others and makes sure everyone feels included. Her positive attitude and genuine care for those around her reflect the true meaning of mateship. Sophie is a valued member of our school and a wonderful example of the values we celebrate with this award.

5/6 and 3/4 Living and Growing Program

Weekly Wednesday starting 12 November

It was great to share in a parent online workshop last week, reinforcing the importance of creating safe spaces to share age-appropriate content, these are important conversations about children’s human development. Thanks for the parents who joined us.  We all left a little wiser and more equipped to be the best parents we can be.

Students in Years 3 to 6 started the sessions on Wednesday. They are accompanied by classroom teachers and, from student reports after the session, all enjoyed the conversations and learning experiences. A reminder that payment for parents sending their children to this program can be made on QKR! or at the office.

REMINDER: Whole School Transition Day

Monday 17 November

To support each student transitioning between year levels we have built in three sessions. The first will occur on Monday 17 November. Students will move into the 2026 learning spaces (eg. this will see the Preps head to the Yr1 and Yr2 rooms). This time is a chance for students to familiarise themselves with the spaces and faces of their peers. As staffing of classes has yet to be finalised it is important to note that students will not by in their 2026 class nor will they meet their 2026 teacher.

The second Transition Session will be held on Tuesday 25 November in the afternoon. The final ‘Meet the Teacher’ Day will be held on Monday 8 December.

2026 Prep Information Evening

7:00pm on Wednesday 19 November

Today our 2026 Preps and parents joined us for another orientation session. While students explored learning, parents focussed on hearing more about First Aid processes and practices, the graduated camping program, as well as the ins and outs of finance and use of QKR!

The final formal gathering will be the Prep Information Evening starting at 7:00pm. It will be a chance to meet the 2026 teaching team and hear firsthand about what life in a prep class will look like. The class structure for 2026 is announced at this important date

FORPS Picnic on the Oval

Friday 5 December - evening

While most of us are focussed on this Saturday’s School Spring Fair, I wanted to remind you that an end of year wind down will be held on the oval on Friday 5 December. There has been lots of opportunities to meet our new prep parents and farewell our outgoing Year 6 parents.  Further details will be released closer to the date but please consider yourself invited.

Volunteer Morning Tea

Wednesday 3 December

A recent estimate of volunteer time in Australia found that 3.2 billion hours (yes billion) is contributed by roughly 14 million people each year in Australia. We are ever grateful for the acknowledged and unknown volunteer hours that contribute to shaping our community. Volunteers can be found standing beside swimming pools encouraging Students, tucked into chairs that are far to small for adults in corridors listening to students read, secretly planting native plants on the boundaries around the school, sharing their thoughts and ideas over the table in School Council meetings and in many other ways.

Please consider yourself invited to share in a morning tea provided by staff as their expression of gratitude for all who have help out and contributed to defining who we want to be as a learning community.

For those who attend, they will hear first hand of our 2026 teaching team.
