Senior School News

Upper Secondary (Years 9-10)
Café
We are very excited to have launched the final term of our student run café, Café 3021. 9/10C have been cooking up delicious, healthy burrito bowls. We have had great feedback so far, and the team have been able to keep up with the demand.
9/10A have been working on their customer service skills, delivering over 40 orders in one afternoon, as well as running a high quality dine in service.
9/10B have been working on learning all about collecting payments and are managing to navigate our new system for inputting orders, Flexischools.
Excursions
We have been enjoying our excursions so far this term, visiting a variety of different places both locally, and within the city.
We have been working hard to focus on planning a safe and effective journey, as well as accessing the community in an appropriate and respectful way. Students continue to show school PBIS values when in the community. It has been great to see their independence growing, looking onto the end of the year coming quickly!
Cooking
Students in 9/10D and 9/10E have continued to access their cooking program, looking at preparing themselves a meal with greater independence. Students follow familiar recipes with familiar ingredients, with the end goal being to prepare themselves a meal that they could also make at home. The students are showing great independence and initiative in the kitchen!
Road Safe Incursion
Students participated in a Road Safety Incursion, organized by ‘Road to Zero’. Students learn about road safety not only as potential drivers in the future, but also as pedestrians and general members of the community. The presentation included a range of interactive and hands on activities. Students seemed to really love the VR headsets!
Senior Secondary (VPC/ASDAN)
Work Experience at Cape this week
Drivers Education
Students drove automatic and manual cars. Most students have completed the practise test and are eager to take their real test!
ASDAN students have been enjoying participating in weekly community access excursions. We are learning to navigate the community safely and problem solve if things don’t go to plan. The students are learning how to identify safer strangers who can help us and to know important personal information about ourselves that might help in a tricky situation.
During community access excursions we also practice using a variety of facilities and resources. We learn how to use a self-checkout, ATM, price check scanner and self-ordering services at food and drink outlets. The students are all doing wonderfully well at developing their confidence in all areas.
