The year fours spent three days last week on camp at Portland Bay Lodge, in Portland.

We had a great trip down and had a stop in Hamilton for a run and eat our snack. Back on the road to Portland. We arrived at camp and had our lunch. Mrs Hausler told us where our rooms were and we set them up. It was time to go off and explore the camp site.

Some of us found a sandy volleyball court - that brought out the 'wombats' the students dug their way to wherever. It kept them amused and they had lots of fun. There was a fabulous games room. Later in the afternoon we went for a walk along the beach and we had fun scavenging along the beach - sponges, cuttlefish, shells, odd shoes and a sea horse skeleton. The food was amazing and there was plenty to eat.

Thursday - we received some bad news that sea conditions were too bad to go on the seal boat tour. Walking along the track we saw the Enchanted Forest, Cape Nelson Light House where some of us saw seals swimming in the waves. Back on the bus to Cape Bridgewater Beach and walked down what seemed like 200 steps. It was snack time again and then played in the sand. Another short bus trip to see the Blow Hole and Petrified Forest - it was very interesting to see how tress had become like stone. A ride on the cable tram car was our fill in activity and it was very interesting. A highlight was the stop at the Strawberry Farm where we all got to sample a homemade strawberry ice cream, yummy.

The weather reports from home kept telling us about the severe weather that was happening, however it was a very mild start to the day on Friday for us, as after breakfast we packed the bus, had a quick play and then headed into town. One group went to the Maritime Discovery Centre and the other went to the playground, then just as we were about change activities it started pouring, so our stay in Portland was cut a little bit short.

Mrs Hausler found us a sheltered space to have our snack and then we headed for home. Our lunch stop was at the Cavendish Football clubrooms. It was a great camp even though it had a damp ending and we weren't able to do all activities that we had planned.

The Royal Life-Saving people visited us at school on Wednesday - change of venue again because of inclement weather. The students from years 3 - 6 all participated in four activities with the focus on water safety in open water situations. There was lots of learning as well as fun
