Monash Tech School Partnership - Supercyber

Creating Futures Together

A Cyber Security-Focused Program.

Our Year 9 students had an exciting opportunity last week to attend Supercyber - a student program at Monash Tech School that focuses on cybersecurity. The program's objective was to inspire and engage students who were not familiar with cybersecurity and to raise their awareness of how to stay safe online. It was an excellent chance for our students to expand their knowledge about this crucial subject.

Supercyber is an innovative program that takes an activity-centric approach to keeping the student experience at the forefront. It focuses on building an understanding of the importance of cybersecurity, its relevance at different operational scales, and the soft skills required to flourish in the field. The rotations are hands-on, promote collaboration, and are gamified to encourage student engagement.

The program started with individual-level activities, where students were encouraged to think critically about their own cyber hygiene practices. Then, it went on to explore practices at a team level, where students considered how to balance accessibility and security within a workspace.

The feedback received from the students regarding the cybersecurity program was incredibly positive and motivating. They

expressed that the program not only helped them learn about cybersecurity but also offered an engaging and interactive learning experience, thanks to the integration of technology. Additionally, the ability to collaborate with their peers throughout the program was inspiring to both students and teachers alike.

Our students have done an outstanding job, and we are proud of them for being excellent ambassadors of our school culture. They have modeled our values of respect, creativity, and excellence exceptionally well. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to expose our students to the importance of cybersecurity and provide them with valuable learning experiences.
