Swimming Carnival 2024

Unfortunately, next year, due to the Inverell Town Pool being out of action, there will be no whole school swimming carnival for 2024. Below is an outline regarding procedures for students to attend a Diocesan Qualifying School Swimming Carnival. Only students who attended the Diocesan Swimming Carnival in 2023 or who have a swimming club time or are new to the school who meet the qualifying times standards below, are able to attend on the day. There will be no relays or finals being held and only the fastest 2 times in each age group, for each event who meet Diocesan qualifying times will be eligible to attend the Diocesan Carnival on Friday 1 March in Gunnedah. Details are as follows:

Where: Warialda Town Pool

Cost: Pool entry

Travel: Private Transport - parents need to take their own child to the event

Events: Open 100m Freestyle, 9, 10, 11 & Open 50m freestyle, Junior, 11 & Open Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly, Open and Junior 200m Medley (please note Juniors is 8, 9 & 10 years; Opens is 12 & 13 years)

Diocesan Qualifying Times: 

  • Freestyle 100m 1.30.00
  • Freestyle 50m 9 Years 59:30:00; 10 Years 56:70:00; 11 Years 53:50:00; 12/13 Years 50:00:00
  • Breaststroke 50m Junior 1.00.00; 11 Years 55:50:00; 12/13 Years 52:50:00
  • Backstroke 50m Junior 1:06:50; 11 Years 1:02.60; 12/13 Years 1:00:50
  • Butterfly 50m Junior 55:00:00; 11 Years 48.70.00; 12/13 Years 46.90.00
  • Medley 200m Junior 4.15.00; Open 3.55.00

All Year 2-5 students will receive a note today. Please indicate on the note if your child has met the criteria and would like to attend a qualifying carnival in Warialda (times must be included on the nomination form) next year. If we don’t receive sufficient entries to run the day, times will be taken from Swimming Club or 2023 Diocesan entries. All nominations need to be sent to the front office. Nominations close Tuesday 12 December 2023.
