Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

Chrismas Carols

We are very excited about our annual St Finbar's Christmas Carols event happening next Wednesday evening (29th November).  We also have our matinee performance at 12pm that day which may appeal to grandparents or other family members so feel free to let them know about it.  Final orders for Anna's picnic boxes close this Friday so get your orders in if this is something you are interested in.  Our Performing Arts teacher Susan Williams has been hard at work with each class preparing and rehearsing for the evening and it promises to be a fun, joyous evening.

School Fees 2024

This week you should have received a letter via email outlining our fees and levies for 2024. I have attached the payment option form below for you to complete and return to school at your earliest convenience.

Sunsmart

As we finish off the school year we are expecting the weather to warm up.  In line with our Sunsmart policy all children must wear hats when they are outside, and this is enforced by all staff. Each classroom has access to sunscreen, and students are welcome to reapply their sunscreen before going outside.  Students may also bring their own sunscreen (preferably roll-on) if you prefer.

Lost Property

Thank you to our LSOs who have come up with a better solution to our lost property issue.  Please feel free to come and look for any missing items. Some mornings we may also wheel the trolley out to the foyer or playground to make it more convenient to look for those lost items.

Italian Day

Last Friday was our "magnifica" Italian day. These days are always a highlight of our calendar, and this year's event was no exception. There was such a happy, positive vibe around the school and the students were engaged all day in their pasta workshop and soccer clinic. Seeing the Prep and Year 1 students work with their Year 5 and 6 buddies to make their pasta was so heartwarming.   Hopefully, you all enjoyed some delicious freshly made pasta on Friday night. A huge thank you to Lena Sirianni who puts in an enormous amount of work to make these days so successful.

Below, I include an excerpt of the email that Jill, the pasta workshop facilitator,  sent to Lena on Friday evening:

You can't imagine how thrilled we were to be at St. Finbar's one last time.  We love your school and have such fond memories of 2018  when Signora Siriani executed the most incredible re-enactment of THE PALIO.  Lena, together with the students and staff provided an example of excellence for other schools to learn from. Working with  inspiring teachers, excited and happy students and incredibly supportive school communities have made BIGpocket's journey like no other.

Kids on Key concert

It was a pleasure to attend the Kids on Key concert on Thursday afternoon. I had no idea that there was so much musical talent within our student community. There were voice, keyboard, violin, guitar and drum performances from students from Years 1 to 6. Cath Dowling, the Kids on Key manager will send through her own article for next week's newsletter but in the meantime please enjoy some photos of our talented students.

Thank you and God bless,

Michelle Hill,

Acting Principal
