2024 Interschool Sport

Sign up for Interschool Sport 2024 is underway, students have been sent Google form links via Compass to complete their selections for the whole year. If students are yet to sign up they can get along to any tryouts or training sessions in Term 1, stay tuned to the Compass News Feed. Coaches are still to be decided so there will be more information in Term 1. 

Sport Academies

Volleyball

Early in 2023 a very keen group of Year 10 volleyball enthusiasts were emailing me to join Volleyball Victoria competitions throughout the year. They have just completed their third and final tournament and we thought it was time to induct the team into the Chelt.Sec Sports Academy. We organised our academy uniform and sent them on their way to the Volleyball Victoria Junior Open Championship. 

From day one the team hit the top of their division ladder, barely dropping a set in the first few days of competition. After 5 days of back-to-back volleyball, the team played in at least three games per day as well as doing duties for other games including referee, line judge and scoring. Making it to the gold medal match was a thrill in itself and Cheltenham secured the win in a nail-biting match against Kew High School who won the first set, which had Cheltenham clawing back to win the game 20-25, 25-21, 25-22.

A very big thank you to 2023 Graduate Zavier Lam, who trained the team around his exam timetable and coached the boys at the tournament, in between his own games for Monash.  A super big thank you to teaching staff members Gasper Chan and Joel Mazurek who altered their timetables to accompany the team.

Moorabbin Rams

The neighbours dropped in again...Last week Sinoti and Rhys came over for a game of Touch Rugby at lunchtime. Thanks to the students who participated in the game. We hope to have more sessions like this in the future. We would love to see Touch Rugby grow as a sport in our college, not only is it in our Avenues Exchange program, it is a fun sport to include all of our students.

Chelt Flyers

Our gym foyer is now proudly displaying some new decorations, in the name of 'Chelt Flyers'. We love to acknowledge our alumni who have excelled in their chosen sport as well as cheer on our current students and staff members to do their best. You will also see important dates on the Chelt Sport Calendar.
