Tries & triumphs: CSSA Zone Touch Football Gala Day

On Thursday 23 November, 39 students, Miss Bignell, Mr Clarke, Mr Terlich, Mr Harrison and Mr Jolliffe went to JJ Kelly Park, Wollongong to play/coach four games of intense touch footy.

Everyone had a great day and we would like to thank our awesome bus driver Matt who also helped coach us throughout the day (he was a weapon). We are also so grateful to the three alumni students Ollie E, Lilli M and Lilly D who came and refereed. We forgive Ollie for forgetting to hand in the score sheet at the end.

Ten students from our school were selected to represent NCS & CSSA South Coast Zone at the CSSA State Touch Football Gala Day in 2024, which was an excellent achievement. Overall, everyone enjoyed the day so much and it ended with a great result for our school: two second places, a third and a fourth in the overall competition.

We had an amazing day even with no frozen custard in hand. Mr Harrison was very disappointed he wasn’t cleared by his physio to play.

Year 7 & 9 Swim & Survive

Recently our Years 7 and 9 students dived headfirst into a Swim & Survive Program at Nowra Aquatic Park. Students spent time refining stroke techniques and mastering safe entries and exits. They also worked on floating and sculling skills, rescue drills and completed a clothed swim. A big thank you to Mrs Drury and Year 12 students Lili and Jenna for instructing our students throughout this program.

Secondary Wiburd Shield Cricket Round 2

Years 7-9 cricket team went to Shellharbour to play Shellharbour Anglican College in a Wiburd shield cricket game. Unfortunately, NCS lost but we did have a great time and did a very good effort to make it to round 2. We bowled first and they got 260 runs which made it very hard to get. Not much for NCS batting except Kent E got 104 not out and Myles with 20. Which made the score more respectable. We finished with 180 runs. They were a very good side and would have taken lots to beat. Thanks to Mr Clarke for umpiring us and driving up to Shellharbour as well. Overall, we all had fun and were happy to take the day off school.   By Caleb Mc
