Creepy Cabaret

A ‘spine-tingling’ congratulations to the incredible students and teachers for their sensational 'Creepy Cabaret' performance last week! Each night showcased hauntingly brilliant talent, as nearly 40 bewitching girls took the stage with a ghoulish and gruesome cast that left us spellbound.

Hats off to the entire cast for their mesmerising performances, each one more captivating than the last. The energy, creativity, and dedication shone through every spooky act, making 'Creepy Cabaret' an unforgettable experience which even had the audience up dancing to the Time Warp by the end of the night.

Special kudos to the Performing Arts Staff for their incredible cameo performances, adding an extra layer of charisma to the evening.

Congratulations, Charlie!

Congratulations to Charlie Leroux-Gardiner who on Sunday 26 November participated in Exciting Evolution, the 2023 End of Year concert for the Adelaide Youth Strings at Adelaide Town Hall. As the principal cellist for AYS, one of the highlights was her solo with the Concertmaster for Summer from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons! Well done!

Year 8 Science Classes ROCK!

It was so satisfying to witness the Year 8 Science classes thoroughly enjoy working with rocks recently as part of their Rocks and Minerals Unit of work. They were asked to choose an igneous rock displayed in the laboratory (e.g. granite, pumice, basalt, obsidian and porphyry) and to research and share information about the chemical and physical properties, uses and other relevant facts about their rock. There was also an opportunity for a fun, energetic photoshoot!

Year 9 History

The 9 Red History class had the opportunity to cook and eat some of the foods eaten by soldiers during World War 1. We made hard-tack bread, ate biscuits and powdered milk and some of us were even brave enough to try corned beef! This was a very fun and interesting experience and a perfect way to end our semester of history!

Year 10 CAD Class F1 Car Race

This Semester the Year 10 CAD class completed Loreto's first ever F1 in Schools Design Contest. The class was split into four groups and were set multiple design and creation challenges to complete. Students used Computer Aided Design programs to create a prototype design of their cars and sent off their creations to the 3D Printer. Once 3D Printed, the cars were sprayed-up, stickered-up and ready to race!

With four cars in the race, it was an exciting lunchtime last week when the girls helped Miss Martin set up the track in the gym. After two rounds of elimination, the Blue Sonic Boom car came out on top, winning each race by a mile!

Handmade Christmas Decorations in Material Solutions

After a busy semester in Material Solutions – Textiles the Year 7 Red class had time today to make some handmade Christmas tree decorations. This picture is just an example of what was made today.

The Danish Christmas Star is a traditional Christmas decoration that the student learnt how to fold and weave the 4 pieces of fabric to eventually make this beautiful star to hang on the Christmas tree at home or give as a gift.

If you would like to make your own Danish Christmas Star here is the link that we used :
