Assistant Principal's Report

Cyber Topic of the Week: Good Habits Start Young

Parents and carers play an important role in helping children to develop digital intelligence — the social, emotional and practical skills needed to successfully navigate the digital world.

Even for preschool children, it is never too early to instill good habits, and as your child gets older it is useful to keep reminding them of these basic digital intelligence principles: respect, empathy, critical thinking, responsible behaviour and resilience. These are also principles you can emphasise with your child when things go wrong.

Interview Day 2024

Bookings for Interview Day on Tuesday 30th January 2024 will be available to make via Compass in mid-January. Our system ‘rolls-over’ during this time, from 2023 to 2024 students and classes. A Compass alert will be sent to all families when this rollover is completed and will include instructions for how to book a conference with your child’s/children’s 2024 teacher/s.

For our new Preps, there will also be information about how to book the 1hr conference and assessment for your child. Please keep an eye-out for the Compass alert around 20th January.

Learning Tasks + Student Report =                           ‘The Semester 2 Reporting Package’

Semester 2 Reports are released via Compass next Friday 15th December. As I have promoted recently, we remind parents to consider the information in the Semester Report alongside the six Learning Tasks which you have received throughout the semester.

Learning Tasks capture learning at a particular point in time and the Semester Report provides a summary of learning progress over the whole semester. We hope you have found our formal reporting package valuable throughout the year.

Medicines and EpiPens

On the final day of Term 4, we request that parents collect any medicines, including asthma medications or EpiPens that are currently at school for your child/children. As mentioned in the newsletter last fortnight, Wendy will soon send home blank management plan templates for known students who suffer from asthma, allergies and/or anaphylaxis. We request that families have these plans completed and signed off by a doctor and returned at the start of the 2024 school year.

Netbooks - Grades 3 to 6

All netbooks in Grade 3-6 will be collected on Monday 18th December and stored securely at school over the holiday period. Chargers are to remain at home. Please note that lost or damaged chargers will incur a replacement charge of $40.

Families of current Grade 2 students recieved a letter today about the netbook program for your child in 2024.
