Despite there being just over a week of school left, there is still a lot happening in the Senior Building!
The students are going to continue publishing their stories and sharing their Passion Projects with their class.
The Grade 6 students will spend the first half of next week finalising their preparations for Graduation evening.
The Grade 5s have begun working on a small group project, where they are required to plan and design a Theme Park. They have a budget of $5 million with $4 million of that to be spent different rides, amenities and attractions and the remaining funds to be kept aside for running costs. This project will be a great opportunity to put what they have learnt throughout the year into practice.
Netbooks will be collected and stored securely for the holiday period on Monday 18th December. In Grade 5/6, we will be collecting these next Friday, 15th December. It is important that all 242 netbooks are accounted for at this time. Netbook chargers can be kept at home over the holidays, however please note that lost netbook chargers will need to be replaced in 2024 at a cost to the family of $40. Grade 6 students will need to return their netbook and charger on this date and ensure that all data and any stickers have been removed.
On Wednesday, the Grade 5/6 students took part in a Walkathon that was organised by three Grade 6 students who were successful in winning a competition facilitated by the Blue Light Dash Community Program. These students wanted to raise awareness for families in the community who may be less fortunate than others. We have been overwhelmed by the number of donations that we received and we look forward to sending these to Bendigo Foodshare.
For participating in the event, students were treated to some hot chips, a juice box and an icy pole at the end of their walk. We would like thank Blue Light Victoria for the opportunity to take part in the DASH Program and for their support with this event.
The Grade 5/6 teachers would like to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of all Grade 5 students who put themselves out there over the last two weeks and applied for a 2024 Leadership Role. We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of you and Spring Gully Primary School is so lucky to have such a strong group of leaders going into Grade 6 next year. An announcement of these roles will be made in the coming days.
On Wednesday 13th December, Grade 6 students will be participating in their Graduation Ceremony. The ceremony will take place at 7:30pm at Spring Gully Primary School in the School Hub. Students will leave school as normal at the end of the day and return at 6:00pm for dinner with their peers and teachers. Parents do not attend the dinner, instead this is your time to get ready for graduation.
If you have not let Mrs Byron know about any special dietary requirements or allergies we may not be aware of, can you please do so ASAP.
We request that guests attending the ceremony do not arrive at school before 7:00pm and need to be seated in the Hub (amphitheatre) by 7:20pm. If the weather prevents the ceremony from being held outside in the Hub, the event will be held inside the school Manya Building with a reduced number of guests.
