Words of Wisdom from Muluridji Students

Mrs Michelle Brammer, Middle Leader Pastoral - Muluridji

Our Year 7, 8 and 9 Muluridji students recently took some time out to reflect on the year, focus on what they are looking forward to next year, and share some words of wisdom.

Year 7 Muluridji Students

Name:  Koen Agrums 

Best memory of 2023: Meeting Jesse, Blake, Dustin and Liam.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Don’t worry just send it. 

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Being 13.

Holiday wish: Every day is glassed out. 

Name: Max Lawrence

Best memory of 2023: Getting the top locker.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Never walk on the grass, and always lock your locker. You never know what could end up in there. Also if you have the M block lockers, say hi to Mrs Brammer.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Our trip to Sugarworld/Community Day.

Holiday wish: I get my 60-metre slip and slide.

Name: Hannah Schrale

Best memory of 2023:  Being Cindy Loo in the Muluridji skit and making new friends.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Don't stress yourself out and you will make friends even if you don't in the beginning.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: I'm looking forward to experiencing food tech and other fun events.

Holiday wish: I'm looking forward to going to New Zealand.

Best memory of 2023: Year 12 Pizza party graduation.

Advice for 2024 Year 7's: Don't lose your timetable!

Best memory of 2023: St Stephen’s day.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Always lock your locker.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Winning the next sports day.

Holiday wish: That I get to see my family.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Move out of the way when yr 12s walk on the path.

Best memory of 2023: The first day of school and meeting new people this year.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Just be yourself and have fun and don't let people bring you down. 

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Food tech and for community day we get to go to sugar world. 

Holiday wish: To see my family that live far away.

Name: Alice Gillman

Best memory of 2023: At year 7 camp when me and my friend were kayaking around Tinaroo while singing Disney songs.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Talk to people, don't cut yourself off to a certain group of people.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Food Tech.

Holiday wish: Getting my new puppy.

Name: Payton McMahon

Best memory of 2023: Sports Carnival.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Keep an open mind, be wise in everything you do at school, don't make silly choices, think before you do.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Cooking class, next year's sports carnival, next year's community day activity.

Holiday wish: Going to Tasmania at the end of the year with my best friend.

Name: Henry Bennett

Best memory of 2023: Some good memories are when we won all of the sporting things bragging at my friends and playing handball every day.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Use the map on your SRB, a question mark can always be useful, I have no wisdom!

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024:  I can be greater than the grade 7.

Holiday wish:  Christmas (not going to Melbourne hopefully).

Best memory of 2023: FNQ 9s Footy and Sports Carnival.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Don't be dumb.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: New subjects/Woodwork.

Holiday wish: Having a good time.

 

Name: Kelly Sivyer

Best memory of 2023: Going to school camp and meeting heaps of new people.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s:   Don't be scared to express yourself, and if people judge you don't listen to what they have to say about you.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024:    Being older than the people in grade 7.

Holiday wish:    To go see all my friends and family that I don't see often, and to not have to go to school and stay at home all day.

Best memory of 2023:  Winning the Gardiner chess comp.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Don’t get caught up with the bad kids.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Our community day.

Holiday wish: That my pc build goes well.

 

Name:  Isabella Weiss

Best memory of 2023: My best memory of 2023 was St Stephen’s Day on the last day of Term 3. It was great fun with all the stalls and activities. This was indeed a great day.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Good things come to those who wait but the best things come to those who do. 

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: For 2024 I am looking forward to Community Day. Community day is a new thing for grade 8's; they take them to somewhere fun like Sugar World and spend the day there. That would be amazing!

Holiday wish: My holiday wish is to have a great Christmas with my family.

Best memory of 2023: St Stephen's Day and Year 7 Camp.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Be respectful to everyone and focus on schoolwork, don't think you are better than everyone because we are all the same. 

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: New classes and maybe new classmates. Meeting new teachers.  

Holiday wish: For my older sister to come back from Germany.

Best memory of 2023: When me and the Une Voce group went to go sing for the seniors (elderly).

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: That you might not be able to make friends with new people, but there will always be one person that will talk to you.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: To Get to do food tech and woodwork.

Holiday wish: To go a see a friend that lives far away.

Best memory of 2023: Meeting new friends like Blake and Dustin and Liam.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Do work in class so you don't get homework. 

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Going to Sugarworld.

Holiday wish: For a motorbike.

Best memory of 2023: Swimming Carnival.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Don't get into any friendship dramas.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Doing food tech.

Holiday wish: Going to Brisbane all by myself.

Best memory of 2023: Meeting my new friends.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Don't be scared about coming to high school.

Best memory of 2023: Year 7 camp was so memorable.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: to Run your own race and to not let other people’s opinions or gossip affect you or your attitude towards you schooling and everyday life.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: I am so excited to explore all the other and different subjects next year.

Holiday wish: i wish to make some memorable memories with all my family including extended, and to be amazing in my end of year dance concert.

Best memory of 2023: Going to school camp and meeting new friends and making memories with my friends.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Don't be afraid to meet new people and make new friends.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: To try new subjects.

Holiday wish: Not being at school, meeting up with my family and eating yummy food.

Best memory of 2023: Getting to know my friends on year 7 camp and doing all the fun activities they had there.

Advice for 2024 year 7’s: Get to know all the people you can so you can find your type of people.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: New subjects and the year 8 SugarWorld community day.

Year 8 Muluridji Students

Name:  Merryn Doyle

Best memory of 2023: Hanging out with friends, and school experience. Like community day. 

Advice for 2024 year 8’s: Have fun, be nice to your teachers, and enjoy it while it lasts. 

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Having fun, making memories. 

Holiday wish: To make memories and have a good time. 

Name: Melody Hadfield

Best memory of 2023: The St Stephen’s talent quest - all the singing, dancing and performances were lots of fun.

Advice for 2024 year 8’s: To give everything their best effort, no matter if it is easy or challenging. Learn from your mistakes and treat everyone fairly with the respect they deserve, students and teachers alike.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: I am looking forward to seeing what my elective subjects will be and what they’ll be like. Also, what we will be doing for the Year 9 community day (Sugarworld or something else, exciting as it is).

Holiday wish: That I will have lots of fun with my family visits and Christmas, and that the holidays will be a refreshing time.

Name: Amber Roccella  

Best memory of 2023:  My best memory was swimming carnival. It was really fun; we got to have a bunch of lollies and walk around. It was really good that we also won the swimming carnival for this year. I also am very excited about our community day tomorrow. It will be really fun, and we get to do new things with our friends at the park.

Advice for 2024 year 8’s: When you first start grade 8, it’s stressful and hard but gets better and easier as you move forward. Don’t let the stress get to you.

Looking forward to experiencing it in 2024: I am looking forward to the new year and getting new subjects. I am also excited because we get to do new things.

Holiday wish: I hope over the holiday season I get what I want for Christmas, have a good Christmas holiday and I hope I have fun at my Zach Bryan concert on the holidays.

Name: Macy Raso

Best memory of 2023: hanging out with friends, and community day.

Advice for 2024 year 8’s: enjoy all of the new electives, have fun, and be nice to your teachers.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: having fun and making more memories with my friends and other electives. 

Holiday wish: keep in contact with all of my school friends over the holidays and hang out with them over the holidays.

Name: Jonty Taylor 

Best memory of 2023: Rugby league 9s because I was having fun with my mates, and we got to play something i love. 

Advice for 2024 year 8’s: Just keep going doesn't matter how hard it is.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Playing footy. 

Holiday wish: To spend time with family and friends.

Name: Molly Kate Gillman

Best memory of 2023: I believe my best memory of 2023, was being able to have fun and enjoy school with my friends and was very much enjoyable in my classes. 

Advice for 2024 year 8’s: My advice to you is to try and prioritise Studying, it may seem tedious and a waste of time, but in the end comes out more beneficial for yourself and your grades. 

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024:

In 2024, I look forward to doing my chosen subjects for the next year, so I have more control over the classes which I pick. 

Holiday wish: For my Holiday wish, I wish to be able to spend more time with my family and friends.

Name: Lance Valle

Best memory of 2023: Community Day October 24th 2023.

Advice for 2024 year 8’s: Don’t try and act tuff, trust me you ain’t.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Turning 15. 

Holiday wish: To get more shifts at work to afford a new Xbox Series S and get some games.

Name: Jem Williams

Best memory of 2023: My best memory of 2023 is Reader’s Cup in Term 2, Week 8. It was a great day and the medal I received will remind me of that day forever =)

Advice for 2024 year 8’s: Do your best - you’ll probably enjoy Year 8 more than Year 7 anyway because of the increase in practical subjects. Just keep a positive mindset and you’ll have a great time.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: I don’t have any real highlights of Year 8 other than just doing more school and learning more new things. That’s the part I look forward to!

Holiday wish: Year 9 turns out better than I think it will (Year 8 did so Year 9 still might).


Year 9 Muluridji Students

Name: Lizzie MacLaughlin 

Best memory of 2023: Spending time with my friends and enjoying it. 

Advice for 2024 year 9’s: It’s not worth fighting with your friends - enjoy the time you have with them.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Enjoy being done with another year of school.

Holiday wish: To get a tan.

 

Name: Wilson Hadfield

Best memory of 2023: One of my greatest memories would be the Sugar World community day.

Advice for 2024 year 9’s: Some advice would be that year 8 might not seem much harder than year 7. But year 9 is a lot harder than year 8.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: I am looking forward to the visual art skate decks, new timetable, and new laptops.

Holiday wish: I wish that my family is kept safe throughout the holidays so that another year may start with all of us returning.

 

Name: Enya Grima

Best memory of 2023: My best memory would be community day, because it was a day to celebrate with your friends.

Advice for 2024 year 9’s: Don’t waste your time, be happy, enjoy your time at school.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024:  Getting to know more about what I want to do career wise, spending more time with friends.

Holiday Wish: I don’t want to waste my time; I want to be doing something different and spending time with friends.

Best memory of 2023: Talent Quest performance, Year 9 Community Day, Arts Night Performance.

Advice for 2024 Year 9’s: Take the opportunity to gather experience and knowledge when given.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: I am looking forward to Una Voce, Electives, Interesting topics, Chemistry, and the Year 10 Community Day.

Holiday Wish: Improve on skills and hobbies, become healthier, become more motivated, become more confident in abilities.

Best memory of 2023: My best memory of 2023 is winning the academic medal for my Year level as it was the culmination of everything I worked for this year at school.  

Advice for 2024 Year 9’s: My advice for the Year 9’s of 2024—and specifically those who wish to do the best academically—is to not procrastinate on your assignments and study revision. If you truly wish to become the best you can be and hunger for the addiction of being number 1, you must be willing to sacrifice regardless of what you may miss out on. If you want to do better, you must hunger for the addiction to be the best, not for others, but for yourself.  

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: I look forward to the extra-curriculars and new opportunities which I can experience by being a part of the senior cohort of SSCC. 

Holiday Wish: I wish for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club to finally end the 15-year trophy drought and win the Premier League or the UEFA Champions League. I wish for the Lilywhites to finally lift European or domestic silverware as the players deserve it, and the fans to have something to celebrate.

Best memory of 2023: Sugar World.  

Advice for 2024 year 9’s:  Have an open mind and take the opportunities as they come.   

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Trialling for the peninsula team and hoping to go onto the QLD team again.  

Holiday wish: To get a job to earn some dough.

Best memory of 2023: Every science lesson.

Advice for 2024 year 9’s: Study hard, put in effort during classes.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: One year closer to not having to do HPE.

Best memory of 2023: Community Day - Sugar World.

Advice for the 2024 year 9’s: Make the most of time with your friends and don’t stress too much about school yet. 

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Trying electives that I haven’t done yet.

Holiday wish: I’m looking forward to our annual dance concert, despite having to say goodbye to the year 12s, and learning new dance routines for next year.

Best memory of 2023: Getting stuck in waterslides at SugarWorld.

Advice for 2023 Year 9s: Have fun but still listen, it's not that serious yet. Make sure to study and revise for upcoming assignments and exams, it’ll help you.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Learning about tourism and having more privileges.

Holiday Wish: To travel.

Best Memory of 2023: My best memory of 2023 would be the year 9 Sugar World community day with my friends. 

Advice for the 2024 year 9’s: Take time to enjoy classes and time with friends before it all gets harder and more intense. 

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: I am looking forward to having more interesting, selected electives for year 10. 

Holiday wish: My wish would be to enjoy my time with my family and friends during the holiday.

Best memory of 2023: Having fun with mates

Advice for the 2024 Year 9’s: Try to be the best you can be and don’t get in trouble.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Being able to select my year 11 subjects.

Best memory of 2023: Having a 5-course meal every English lesson in Term 3.

Advice for 2024 year 9’s: Don’t leave everything at the last minute.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: A whole year of my chosen electives.

Advice for the 2024 Year 9’s: Don't be late to Mr Miller's geography.

Advice for the 2024 year 9’s: To stay out of trouble.

Advice for the 2024 Year 9’s: Don't be idiots.

Holiday wish: Make Gold Coast Suns u17 training squad for AFL.

 

Name: Isabelle Simms

Best memory of 2023: When Bonnie and I had our first food tech class, and we laughed the whole time. It was so messy, and we got in so much trouble, but it was worth it.

Advice for 2024 year 9’s: Cherish the people who make an effort to be around you. The bonds you make now are the ones that will probably go with you throughout the rest of school. And you may not know how good of a friend they are when you know you won’t have them next year.

Looking forward to experiencing in 2024: Meeting new people, teammates, coaches and school community. I am going to miss my friends here so much, but I know that expanding my opportunities is going to help me to become a better person.

Holiday Wish: I wish that I get to spend real quality time with my friends and family while I still get to live with them and be with them. Because I know I won’t get to see them every day anymore and to cherish the little things that matter.

Advice for 2024 year 9’s: Listen In class and don’t get in trouble for not wearing the right jewellery.
