What's making news this fortnight

School Uniforms ♻️

With the end of the year approaching some students may have outgrown their school uniforms. We kindly ask that families consider donating any uniforms they no longer have a use for to the school.

Second-hand uniforms are used on a daily basis - sometimes given to children who have forgotten their jumper or become wet/dirty throughout the day and also support families in the current economic climate.

We do our best to ensure we have all sizes and items available - but rely greatly on the generosity of our VRS community donating anything they no longer need.

Building Update 🔨

If any of you have been past the old Wanganui Park Secondary School site lately, you will see that there has been a lot of activity in preparation for the refurbishment of the buildings for our Junior School Campus - very exciting times!

Many people have asked what the new campus will be called.  Our School Council has requested that we rename the entire school and our Regional Director has endorsed this move.  At the start of next year we will begin the consultation process to choose a new school name.

Car Park Plovers 🐦

Some of you may have met our resident plovers and their fluffy little babies, over the past month or two, hanging out around our carpark causing quite a ruckus!

After taking off for a few weeks they have popped back in for a visit looking so grown up.

Important Dates! 🗓️

**Please note the final day of school for students is the 18th of December**

We have two handover/preparation days for staff on the 19th & 20th of December - these are student free days.

Following the summer holidays, school returns in 2024 on the 30th January

Christmas Raffle Donations 🎁

Somehow, it's now November and Christmas is just around the corner!

We would like to remind the VRS community of our Annual Christmas Raffle and put a call out for prize donations please.

Donations can be anything - sweet treats, craft activities, candles, toys, Christmas themed goodies etc.

We ask that prizes please be dropped into the school front office unwrapped.

Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated!

Christmas Food Hamper Items 🎄

In the lead up to Christmas and school holidays our wellbeing team will be putting together food hampers for VRS families in need.

Anyone who would like to donate items for these hampers is welcome to please drop them into the school office.

We know this year has been tough for a lot of families - if you are struggling or concerned heading into the summer holidays please reach out and ask to talk to Sarah K or Danielle.

Enjoy your weekend 😄
